Why AIrtel and BSNL Broadband is costly - Making us Fool ?

hi guys,
i switched to Railwire longtime back, but still asking why Airtel and BSNL braodband price is costly ?

Common things about AIrtel and BSNL :
Common DSL modems
Copper wire
High latency
FUP – in range of 5 GB
Unlimited plans – NO.
Brand ambassaodors : Yep, paying some 10 crore++ per year, and collecting that amount in product price. Shahrukh khan, AR rahman and lot are in list
Tv ads spending : Yep, atleast few
Price : thrice the price of railwire/ACT/BBNL
Marketing : spending heavy on marketing, less on service to people.

Common things about Railwire (owned by railway) and ACT broadband, BBNL (bangalore broadband network) :
They’re using FIbre,
Low latency, High Quality
Unlimited plans : Yes they have true unlimited plans
Price : we can get 10mbps plan in 1500 rs range.
Brand ambassaodors : NO
Tv ads spending : less or literally NO
Marketing : very less.
Disadvantage : available in specific regions only, they’re expanding fast.

People have to ditch or boycott AIrtel/BSNL broadband ?? they’re making us Fool by high pricing even on poor old technology, if fiber means, they charge double and tell us FIbre is costly and best technology, as other low cost providers basic is fibre.

Low cost (but high quality) ISP list (airtel alternative / Bsnl alternative) :

http://www.perfectinternet.in/index.php/ab...us
http://www.rcom.co.in/Rcom/personal/internet/wi...

Offtopic:
in my area, people moved to railwire once they introduced, due to attractive pricing and quality, as local cable tv operator is responsible for support, Just one call he fix the issue or within 1 day for fibrecut problems.

i have wifi in both home/office, so no Datapack , saving big money and tension free and these railwire is truely unlimited

Bsnl has its network in all India . so u can say it is monopoly , becoz ppl hav no other choice .
in some parts where Airtel is available ppl will choose it ….
Airtel and BSNL are the ISP that are most popular and most used …. BSNL has wide coverage even in rural areas .
currently most ppl need low latency and BSNL offers it …

Well iam a different user – i neither use railtel nor BSNL

these low cost ISP’s qulaity is par and even better than AIrtel, they’re not compromised by qulaity.

thing is, even this small ISP is able to give this much low price, then whyn’t Airtel and BSNL ..?? they must able to give for further low price but they’re making us Fool and taking our hardearned money in the name of brand and unavailablility of competition.

Reliance Broadband is closed in our area and they pulled the cables out of home last year https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_sad.gif

initially i know only 2 low cost ISP, now list is increasing, so thing is “Government is not monitoring the prices”.

Another thing about ACT broadband is, they have cache/peering servers, if the content is available in their cache server means, you will get in minimim 10 mbps + even your plan is 1 mbps, because of internal LAN traffic, torrent download is always above your plan speed due to peering servers.

Bsnl fibre broadband pricing…Dont laugh about this much high price (1000 % fooling us) by increasing 3 to 4 times the price of normal low cost isp and main thing is, after fup speed is only 512 kbps, when these guys management wake and think “what is the use of 512 kbps in 100 mbps fibre line”..poor management too

As low cost ISP, fibre is basic thing, according to BSNL guys, they think fibre as enterprise level something so only colecting big amount…lolz

Airtel is too Worst in all the three – Network, Plans and Customer Service. Worst in both Broadband as well as SIM card. Between ’12 and ’13, I was paying around 1200rs/Month with 2mbps speed up to 40GB. Had a terrible, terrible experience with Airtel.

Later I moved to Hathway since ACT wasn’t yet available in my area back in 2013. 1100rs/month with 10mbps speed up to 50GB. It was Great. The network was so good that I hardly contacted the customer service till I disconnected the network in the beginning of 2015 as we shifted our home to a different place. At the same time, Hathway changed its plans. Now they are providing plans with the minimum speed of 50mbps only! They increased the speed incredibly but reduced the FUP. I needed more data instead of more speed. So I opted ACT Fibernet.

Even with ACT Fibernet, I did not face any issues till now. Rs. 1049/month with speed 30 Mbps up to 50 GB. This is best plan for me.

On the day when I requested for the ACT, there was some offer. lol, the sales person mentioned it. I got 50GB extra along with the FUP in the second month. Downloaded too many movies..:-D I opted for 6 months, so I got one extra month free without any Installation charges or registration charges.

I had used rcom bb around 1 year then moved back to Airtel.
Rcom service was very pathetic and very inconsistent.
Frequent connection failure. Even if we complaint about disconnection they raise ticket and close the ticket without verifying whether actual issue resolved https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_confused.gif .

But as far the cost cheaper and speed also good. only thing is their service https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_twisted.gif

BSNL provides decent plans only when they face stiff competition. Case in point the plans for Hyderabad circle: 16Mbps upto 100GB( not sure they keep on changing) and 4Mbps beyond for ~Rs 1.5pm. Solely because of Beam and other local ISPs.

thats true, only if they have competition means, there poor management reduce the price, but i am sure future is WISP (wifi ISP), so bandwidth will available cheap still we not expect this from BSNL/AIrtel, as they have anything called Business Ethics only pulling more money for low bandwidth.

Anybody got news about Relaince 4G fiber, that is they planned to give fiber to home from roof using their CPE (small outdoor device), hope there price will be unlimited for fiber..

Some people are lucky to have some BB feasibility at your place. When i was in Delhi, i was spoiled for choice. Had a great 25mbps connection from Local ISP. I have moved to Chennai now and BB scene here is quite pathetic. BSNL says that there is some feasibility issue and they don’t have any ports available. As per other flat owners, BSNL has been singing the same story from last 4 years. Airtel is available till the next street. I’m forced to use Airtel 3G. I’m getting nearly 20 mbps speed on Airtel 3g https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_eek.gif . I wish their plans was economical. Currently paying 1.5k for 12 GB https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_sad.gif

you’re in chennai means, whyn’t you can try AIrcel, as aircel 3g have good connectivity and cheap compared to AIrtel ?
we get data and talktime in sametime (YOU HAVE TO USE THEIR WEBSITE TO RECHARGE)

my bro is using below plan
453 (Aircel Website Recharge)
353TT (no restriction on validity) + 3GB Unified Data (valid for 30 Days) + 399 Loc & Nat SMS (Valid for 30 Days)
30 days validity
so he is getting 3 GB data (3g or 4g if available) for just 100 rs, so data is as low as 33.33 rs per GB

Offtopic:
in chennai which area mate, ask your cable operator (just get his mobile number from house owner and ask him), i am sure Raiwire will be there or atleast ACT broadband

Another thing about aircel, you can transfer main account balance to your friends or relatives (my bro transfer main talktime to mom like this), as due to combo he have big money in main account, so he share https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

Thanks, I have tried all the options including Aircel. Aircel signals are okay outside the house however inside the rooms it is very patchy.signals keeps going back to 2G every now and then. I have tried reliance netconnect as well. That thing is even worse. Reliance promised a speed of 14.7 Mbps, but the real speed ranges from 200-400 kbps with very poor latency.

I’m yet to check if railware is available. There is a suburban railway station 3 kms from my home so i may have some luck with Railware. ACT is not available beyond Anna nagar.

BTW, I stay at a place called Ambattur.

Reliance JIO will purportedly provide 10GB data along with MiFi device for just Rs 700!!! according to a distributor. @cybertechie This might serve your purpose in case Railtel is not available. Expected launch 1st March. Although getting hold of a SIM can be hectic as they have imported only abt 400k initially.
Edit: Limited launch on 14th January!
www.telecomtalk.info/rjio-4g-launch-lyf-handset...
Oh crap this will be limited to only their in-house Lyf branded handsets which come with pre-bundled SIMs.

once reliance jio launched means, we guys must analyse and will start a big campaign in twitter against this BSNL/Airtel making people fool and this corporates forcing people to create a image of “Bandwidth is costly” and charging 255 rs for 1 GB 3g/4g

or
we have to start a campaign to tell “ACT braodband” (old beamtelecom) to expand because only ISP in india have more peering servers/torrent servers, which gives higher speed than our plan speed.

1 mbps plan guys get 10mbps + for youtube cached videos (if it is intheir server cache) or torrents.

just call your local cable operator, he is responsible for distribution in your area, just give him one proof and photo, he will get you in next day if your area got their backbone.
