The list is confusing a decent Mifi router should be for approx 2500 but on ebay they are all about 3K but really non standard stuff

so doubtful warranty.

I would have to through the router in dustbin instead of sending it to Hongkong or UK as a parcel for replacement.

Any one with a decent unit from India with a warranty please post the link

Great buy ….. Asus is really forging ahead ….. i’m interested in this too ….. as you’ve bought it can u tell me if

1)We can insert 3G sim directly into the mifi without data stick?

2)Can we connect a hard drive to the usb port so as to emulate a NAS drive?

3)Does it have a battery, in case we dont want to connect to a pc via usb for power source?

thx

@ thumsup

if u r looking for a router in which sim can be inserted directly and has a battery, d-link has a pocket router for around Rs.4000
http://www.newtechnology.co.in/dlink-dir457-myp...
i had seen that in one of the shops and its pretty much small and goes into ur pocket https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_toungueout.gif

the HUAWEI E585 is another router in which u can directly insert the sim and has a battery as well…

i dont think any of the portable routers come with a usb port to which u can attach a HDD… after all they are meant to be light to carry around with u https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_wink.gif

The Mifi router is for

  • using Android from regular laptop outdoor because it boots 100 tims faster than windows
  • using the 5000 bucks tablets outdoors
  • convenience of connecting to internet with a touch of a button instead of elaborate login.
  • save on a seperate data plan for Wifi enabled mobiles / smartphones

well the price of 2400 is interesting but the ASUS fails to whole purpose of a MiFi unit when its without a battery.

Thanks for the info but wlll have to keep hunting.
