Me too facing same issue. Card is activated, got msg about balance.
I am guessing it may be due to multiple cards attached to same number/email address. i hv 6 cards.

Guys, the card I received from Rediff (sold by GiftBig Gift Cards India) is not working on any website (Amazon, Paytm, Freecharge) although I did place an activation request with GiftBig support and later received an SMS confirming card activation.

As with all of my other Axis prepaid cards, most of which work(ed) just fine, I am not able to login to Axis’ prepaid card website either. Any suggestions?

@ankurjpr Please talk to your contacts at GiftXoxo and ask them to relist the HDFC card. That one was hassle free.

I asked them, We have no future plans of HDFC cards as of now was the reply.

Well, I’ve no idea how to fix the error it throws up for you.
I’ve lost hope in Axis CS hence I’ve resolved never to deal with them since that Amazon app offer fiasco.

Guys, I was finally able to crack the mystery behind the non-functioning of my Axis card purchased from Rediff (GCI). This information is applicable regardless of where you purchase the Axis cards from.

It turns out that, even though GCI customer care activated my card, some problem in the Axis payment gateway does not let prepaid cards purchased from GCI (and perhaps other sites as well) to register for VBV at the time of the first transaction. Note that this wasn’t the case earlier. You have to register for VBV separately on Axis’ website before performing any transactions. Special thanks to @rajdesidime for the unintended hint!

So if your card is not working even though it is supposedly activated, go to the following direct link and register for VBV. This is 100% verified by me just now. My card failed for every transaction, but I was able to use it successfully today after registering for VBV at the below link.

ICICI cards bought from infibeam, no PIN was sent. Will it be sent separately? I dont think cards are activated yet despite it being a week.

Yes, earlier VBV registration for new cards was working on the payment page itself. Seems like it was a temporary problem in their payment gateway as evident by @Zubies’ experience today.

But now we know what to do in case this happens again in the future.

But as I said earlier, I’ve given up on Axis after experiencing their extraordinary customer support (both online and offline). Had it not been Amazon, I would have got screwed thoroughly (3.8K). Thank goodness!

Ok, bro. But that was a temporary issue. FYI, I have again ordered a 3K gift card from Amazon during yesterday’s offer.

It’s your choice whether to take a chance with this Axis card again or not, but in my experience, if you face any issues with your online shopping from a major site like Amazon, it’s actually good from a dimer’s perspective. Because if you pursue it properly, you will definitely be financially compensated for your troubles.

Yes, I know. Amazon would have compensated for my waste of time and energy. But I felt very awkward to ask them for it. So I remained happy with refund alone.

As you said, it’s a matter of choice. These days I’ve started to think if online shopping really rewards me or punishes me. Monetarily, it is rewarding but existentially, it is very demanding. Is it really worth all the effort that we put into this?
