Corsair Fanboi!

After much consideration of posting this here or on my soon to be developed website, I thought here would be best.

A little bit of foreground : If you have seen my other post, you should now I hate posting. There was a time and place when/where I used to post, but, it just gets old. Like me!
This is a true story, with very little drama, on what transpired, and what made me fall in love with this little company called Corsair. Be known, that I neither work for Corsair, nor do I have a stake in em. Some guys love to rant on and on and on about xyz; I prefer extremes in my life. Extremely good service, I will praise. Extremely poor service, I will rant.

Now, onwards to the content. I bought a Corsair RAM kit.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item...

I bought this during Thanksgiving for about Rs.3400 all inclusive of tax / shipping / conversion charges. Thats a kit. 2 × 8GB. Meaning 16 GB (Used a calc to verify…). (I travel a lot, so I delivered it to my company, and picked it from there)
Here is what you get in india, for a similar product :- http://www.flipkart.com/corsair-vengeance-ddr3-...
Exactly the same specs. Albeit… I bought two of them for the price of one.

So what? Well, when I got it back to India, unfortunately after running memtest86. They were faulty. I know some of you guys are laughing right now… Well I was crying https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_cry.gif .

You guys are thinking, well serves you right you cheap-cross-country-warranty-ignorant-bargain-hunting-nincompoop!

And this is where, I was lucky. I quickly, called up Corsair India warranty service. Which is being handled by Kaizen InfoService. Foremost, I employed, Bill Clinton’s policy of dont ask, dont tell. If they did not ask where I bought it, I would say nothing. If they did ask me, I would say “Online”. Only if they pressed for more details, would further details be furnished. What about the reciept / Invoice / Stamp, that other dealers love to pester you with? Well… Corsair uses this great invention called, SERIAL NUMBERS. If the serial number exists, poof, its not a fake product, and you get coverage.

And thats it. An RMA request was raised. They asked me to drop in to their service center, and I was like, Can I ship it to you? They said, sure, here are the details. Paid Rs.20 for courier (DTDC) to ship it to them. 2 days later… I was shipped brand new modules. The same red color kit. Even though I have yet to see any shop selling it, how they had stock, dumbfounds me. 3 hours of memtest later, I was HAPPY!

So there you have it. 3 emails, 1 phone call (they called), about 4 days later…I got a faulty product replaced, and have 24GB of RAM https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_wink.gif <Like I said, new website…>
If anyone can name, any other manufacturer, that offers this level of support to honor their warranty, praise on! And BTW : Corsair RAM (Like most RAM manufacturers) are Lifetime Warranties.

Lastly, if I choose to do another post. The topic will be : The Great “1 Year” Warranty Scam and how They are Fooling You.
