[Family wants power] Inverter Question

Bangalore powercut is killing me. Everyday, we have 1 hour of power cut 4-5 times. And 10 minutes of random power cut.
That 10 min extra powercut is like putting ghee on fire.
It BURNS!
But all this is making our lives a living hell.
Which is why I thought I will get an inverter for our home. But the problem is:
I am freaking clueless.
Last time, without understanding, I bought some shit 4k worth UPS from iBall that no longer works (was for computer). Since then, I decided to go with something that will last longer. For our entire home.
And it looks like inverter is what we neeed.
That is why I have spent a significant amount of time learning all about inverters, pure sine wave, and all kinds of ninja electrical stuff (feeling badass already).
In fact, after talking to an electrician, he told me to try microtek 850 VA inverter clubbed with an exide 110 AH battery.
Our conversation wasn’t deep.
(But online, people recommend 150 AH).
So here I am, confused and looking for more suggestions and thoughts on finding the right kind of inverter for my home.
We need to use 2 tubelights, 2 bulbs, 1 modem, 1 LED Desktop, and two fans. That’s all.
Backup hours can be anything.
Looking for: Something that is reliable. No strict budget, but under 25k is good enough. I see many are mentioning Sukam and other brands. What do you recommend is a good combo?
Make me feel powerful, dimers. Appreciate your responses!
vu for efforts…..
Amara Raja Tall Tube Battery with Inverter. That’s it!
Me too frustrated of this power cut

What was awkward about it? It sounded funny, in fact.

Thanks! This is new to me. What about the AH and everything? Also, what’s the VA for a inverter to balance that battery load (not sure if my question makes sense)?
EDIT: I see on Snapdeal, the 150 AH sells for 9k to 11k. Good enough. Inverter cost is like 6-8k. Detailed response should solve this mystery.

You and I have both scored A+ in the HUMOR exam. Can’t say the same for Achilles.

It’s from Amaron. You have to discuss the capacity needed with your electrician based on the requirements you mentioned above. I’m no expert in that. But go for this brand. It is better than Exide/Microtek. My family feels powerful because of that only.

God. GOOD ONE!
Locking in on Amaron as even @hese recommends it. But what about the AH and inverter brand you guys are using?
I think I will buy online (unless there is a strong reason not to do so).

Thanks! Read similar article (Link). Now if I can know the right combo of inverter + battery, I’d be grateful.
First Which location are you from?
Contact Local Amaron or any branded dealer, ask him to guide you how to buy, which one to buy…etc etc..
not satisfied walk to another dealer eat his brain…
Then contact one good electrician to guide you with wiring costs etc… Pay him good amount…he plays imp role…
Finally have few choices/ models/brands with you and tell us…
we will help you to buy online …..:) Whole process usually 2-3 days…
Then you can show your “power” to your family

I’m out now. Will let you know about it once I get back home. But I’ve wired around 4 tube lights, 3 led bulbs, 4 fans and a table fan to be used with this back up. Cost me 20K altogether (offline purchase).

I am from Bangalore. I wanted to contact a branded dealer, but I saw Snapdeal and Amazon offering inverters, and the electrician owes me some money.
So all he wants are the items – inverter and battery – rest he will take care of everything.
And thanks for your help. Why aren’t we friends already?

That sounds good to me. I am checking Amaron inverters online and they come with some splendid reviews, powering so many homes without any headache. Waiting.

I gave that link to you and you give it back to me?
My understanding of inverter has improved, but knowing a specific model will help. Right now, it’s Amaron. Looks really good. (See the benefits of asking dimers).
Also, @hese – we have single batteries of Amaron on Snapdeal at good discount. My guess is you can buy that and install on your own? Or do you need an electrician every time?
This thing is more complicated than Game of Thrones.
I am using microtech combination and didn’t felt any problem in last one and half year. Combination cost was around 13000, that says 3 saal men ho Jaye free
“See the benefits of asking dimers!”
Definitely superb
@sidbhai @hese These are the ones I got at my place:

For inverter, Stick to Sukam or Luminous sine wave. If you are planning to connect a laptop/desktop, Since wave UPS/inverter is a better choice.
Spend your maximum attention in buying the battery. I tend to buy Full tall tubular battery to power my home due to better reliability and warranty. Amaron makes best batteries followed by Luminous. Exide used to be good some 4-5 years back but now they make crappy batteries that don’t last long. Exide costs more than Amaron and luminous.
@sidbhai Buy tubular battery (150Ah or above). See this (and other posts in that thread): http://www.desidime.com/forums/dost-and-dimes/t...
My last inverter purchase was back in 2014 May when i bought a Luminous 850VA sinewave inverter with Full tall tubular 150 MAH battery after lot of research for my in-laws house. I remember paying around 21k which included the price trolley and installation. 3 CFL bulb, 1 TV and 2 fans can run for nearly 8-10 hours on this combination. Tall Tubular batteries doesn’t require much attention and are maintenance free for most part. You may need to top up distilled water maybe once in a year or so.
Make sure that you buy a battery with maximum warranty available. it is quite an expensive affair to get the UPS battery replaced. In my Delhi home, 2 inverter batteries have just failed ( 200 MAH each). It will set me back by at least 30k to get them replaced Unfortunately both the batteries are out of warranty and did not even last for 3 years.
I second @DealSeeker suggestion. Go for Tubular batteries only. I’m not a fan of exide though. Amaron and Luminous makes better batteries.

Thanks dude. Or as Socrates says, “Thanks bruh!”
This is cheaper than I expected.

I thought Exide ruled. Thanks for the thorough answer. It is getting clearer now. Amaron takes the battery award. Will zero in on the inverter tonight.
Just wondering what’s the relation between battery and inverter?

Has your setup changed after so many months? Amaron battery is the tubular one. Inclined to get that now. Your thoughts?
EDIT: While we are at it, what’s with the 150 AH recommendation? That’s a standard for home. Do I need more? Just trying to learn more.
Bro. for inverter get microtek, numeric. Dont buy sukam.
as for battery by tubular battery only. exide 150 ah cost around 16 to 18 k, but it is a good buy. The more the ah, the more you will get the backup. greater ah is good for powercut prone areas.
do not buy battery brand which say inverter battery, specially for inverter etc.
You can use this inverter for you computer too, but sometimes the computer may restart when power goes, so you may need to get a small in-built ups too.
