Guys , While checking my account statement today i found that freecharge have debited my account for 599 rs ( 4*20 and one 519)
yesterday. I didn’t do those trasactions. ( recharging for rs 519 – me ? definitely not ). Since i didn’t do the transactions i don’t have any reference numbers or order number ( what i have is my bank debt details ). So i don’t know how to contact them and ask details about it. So please keep safety of your card details ( change your vbv code or mastercard securecode ) after you guys did the trasaction with freecharge. Even you guys know that freecharge is able to get the vbv / mastercard secure code while making payments to them ( check the button on the left bottom while entering vbv code. If you click that it will show the code ).SO i just warn my fellow dimers to keep your card details safe..

Did you check your freecharge transaction history? What does it show for Rs 519 in freecharge?
Yes I checked that. Even I availed that 20 Cashback on 20 for five times yesterday. But my account is not showing these transactions. Instead of that , my statement shows transactions that they were done day before yesterday. What is the logic in that?
What’s the 519 for?
Dont get into the conclusion that freecharge looted you..
you many done some trasaction on freecharge using your state bank virtual card.
i believe thats why freecharge deducted.
and for 519 you might have paid post bill or reachrged prepaid with some coupons ( because of which total payment become 519).
you can contact freecharge using your banks transaction number.
Nope I don’t have any postpaid connection or dth.. And I am sure I don’t do those transactions on that particulae day.. I asked them about this and awaiting for their reply. Hope I get those amounts back… Anyways thank you for your concern…
I’m really starting to get nervous about freecharge. They have some kind of setup installed in their app which is unmasking 3d secure password. I don’t know if that app has the capability to store the password information. What do you guys think? I do a lot of recharge though free-charge. its about time i change all the passwords.

you might have accidentally bought a Rs499 coupon(maybe lenskart) along with rs 20 recharge== rs 519
Your logic is correct !! But the fact is i recharged my number on that 20 cashback on 20 offer, which is yesterdays ( April 1 )promotion. But my account was showing it was debited at 31 st march. That doesn’t seems ok !!

sometimes banks show txn date 1 day before or after….my account statement shows txn date of 2 april 2015 whereas i did it on 1st april…
in the image u posted check the last characters written in front of FREECHRGE….it shows correct txn date for all txns…010415x
I agree that free charge one day earlier date for today’s.. even for my accounts yesterday though it was April 1st it was showing as March 31st but I don’t think it will debit and also if a transaction is made there should an email and SMS.. for more info better contact [email protected]
just check your freecharge account for any coupons u have bought…under MY COUPONS section. hope that helps
Yes you are right !!! I accidentaly bought an lenskart coupon in a hurry of making that recharge as i need to go out of my wifi area ! But please see the below images !! The dates of my account statement and the freecharge order are different !!
I am wonder how could this happen !

Seems like freecharge has strategically placed those two expensive coupons on top row. I’m pretty sure many would have accidently bought that coupon

yup. I also felt the same. While doing recharge thru FC yesterday, found their creepy system trying to detect OTP of my bank. Thankfully my OTP came in different mobile. So FC was unable to track it. But I had to write OTPs several times (as most of them were showing invalid).
I wouldn’t be too worried about OTP since it has short validity. I will be writing to FC today to get a clarification on this. Can’t let these guys have my sensitive information.

It’s for reasons like this and more that I prefer to use emulators for pretty much all of the apps that require payments for anything.

Better to use XPrivacy if you want to use it on mobile as it blocks msgs, contacts and whatever you want, you could block it
But how would emulator help in this context coz you still need to punch the sensitive information on emulators too or am i missing something?
I have just written an email to FC asking for clarification on this.

What abt antivirus solutions? For ex on the desktop Kaspersky has a virtual keyboard feature. Does the equivalent exist for their Android counterparts? Also a few days back someone had posted that OTP is necessary for card payment as well. Is nt that the case? Personally I never use these promotions that mandate payment via card as many of the transactions fail and I hv enough credits accumulated for a few years at the bare minimum.

Using emulators atleast keeps my contacts and SMS’es (OTP) secure from these prying apps. You are right that using emulators still doesn’t help avoid security issues with 3D secure passwords. But I use my Citi CC and choose the OTP option to completely avoid leaking any sensitive information. Moreover, I never store my CC on any website/app. I know Freecharge stores the CC info automatically on the app. But you can remove the stored card via their website — I do it after every promotion on Freecharge that requires payment via CC/DC and hence avoid Freecharge as much as possible.
P.S. You tagged somebody else.
