Besides the usual like design/need, quality, service availability, whether self manufactured AND self assembled (as opposed to outsourced/job work)

i also look at:
1] type of diffuser/ transluscence material has to be of good quality (its just the Plexiglass type housing that the LED sit in)

2] does the company make, and are good at providing the CVCC type drivers (constant voltage constant current IC)

3] those which conform to norms like CRI index are better (don’t go by fake names like cool white blue red). there are brands that offer even more than 100Lumens/ per Watt . So that too i look at.

4] claimed/ rated MTBF (just like in old HDDs, the mean time between failure aka expected life is important to know)

5] Power Factor/ EER: a crucial parametre. How much of the input is actually getting utilised. PF > .9 aren’t unheard of (it means 90% efficiency/output)

6] and going the way we face climate/ weather changes, better if the company has done the burn test. ( https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_lol.gif nope, not burning. It is putting the equipment in an oven like room gradually going 30, 40, 50, 60 degrees. And after every few hours (or if in labt est then continual) checking which items survived till what heat ]. In India they should be rated to work till at-least 45 degrees  then only its rugged.

with these in mind and from recent live experience

budget: performance ratio
1] i’d say a Crompton Greaves or Wipro

2] though the old boys are still almost the best: Osram, Philips, GE (no particular order)

3] once one of the biggest clock brands, Ajanta.. has Oreva (arey wah https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_lol.gif )

4] besides CG (Crompton) the other names missing your list (source¿) are the other desi names like Surya or Moser Baer . They aren’t bad either, worth a dekko!

i’d not be too comfortable using a trader brand. All JSB or some product lines of Bajaj and Eveready are completly labeled and packed imports and aren’t at times serviced at all. The brands at most offer replacement (because the some product lines just have a small staff at import desk and no other back up).

I am not associated with any brand or business, nor having any ulterior motive, but sugges

you to go through the work, people like Sanarti Group (they are big as in really big in Govt. Supplies. Shayad Railways ka kafi signaling ka kaam hai. Thus they may be bigger than Intl brands if numbers are concerned. Don’t remember but i think site is Sanartigroup.com )

have you heard of Pharox ? (now Lemnis have partnered NTL) so keep a look out for them (NTL Lemnis). Obviously one might know that NTL too are big daddys in lighting with production unit outside India too.

And unless I’m mistaken, NTL was the firs Indian Co. to make/launch LED Bulbs.

Source:
some of it self, many technical stuff from interactions with Charlston , people at Sanarti (their head is an experienced IITian with 25-30 years in this field, he only started the Co.)

and some pricing info and further classifications can be accredited to many B2B (project negotiation) interactions we’ve had.

Pricing in retail verses say even a small buider are very different. You can find some luck even if you approach a local stockist or even a dealer and see what quotations they offer to even a small project of 15-20000 carpet area. Its like all MRPs are dummy numbers.

Just curious, not that i mind, the name but Anchor doesnt figure on your radar!

after Panasonic takeover Anchor had lost its budget/ VFM pricing tag and i specifically recall some interaction with technical production head of the lighting division, at Elecrama. They did innovate a lot in this segment and had launched many good stuff back then.

I had bought Eveready 14w led bulb from pepperfry, it was a bit brighter than the phillips 14w
but one fine day it just stopped working

These Eveready bulbs are china made
so its better to go with phillips which are India made

P.S – Anyone know about Eveready’s Service Center in Mumbai?
