First tell us which model you are using

I am going to tell youI how I rooted mine.

Do note it’s d800. At&t version.
I used stump root to root my phone Use bruteforce method to root it.

Then I used autorec method to install custom recovery. Here is the link. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?…
Do remember to use the right version otherwise you may brick your device.. Then update reovery by flashing Latested version from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/developme….
And yes if you lose knock on feature than don’t worry just type on dialer 3845#*800# go to settings and select update firmware .Do remember my model is d800 so I used 800 so last digit will depend upon your model number. Problem solved.
Take a nandroid backup.
Then you can do what ever you want eg.installing exposed and different kind of modules or try different roms.

You just need to download the correct file and install it with recovery.
Just read the change log and you would know the benefits
