Anyone over here owns a micromax or Philips led tv?
I just want to buy a tv for my mom and dad, 32 or 40 Inches.
Micromax prices are quite reasonable but I’ve no idea about build and picture quality.

Should i buy it (Micromax 39C2000HD 39 Inches HD Ready) or i should go for 32 inches led by philips?

Don’t buy Philips its not good. You will have frequent problem with it.

Never used Micromax can’t comment.

I would recommend you to buy either VU if your on tight budget else get a reasonably priced LG LED.

I have a 32 inch philips TV. These Tv’s are manufactured by videocon. They have a partnership with Philips to market their TV. I have DDB LED with inbuilt videocon d2h stb. Using it since 2.5 years. No problems till now. The picture quality is good. I got 1 year free south platinum HD pack with it worth 6k. Paid 38k for the TV back then. https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

Hi,
although I only have some basic experience of using Philips’ Slimline range long long back, I think they are a fairly decent manufacturer of lighting or related equipment.

More on Micromax or Vu Onida etcetera.
In so far as I know, Micromax is presently ‘only’ looking at market shares and expansions and customer satisfaction isn’t their priority. As such, it is a typical Lalaji (family managed) business and so repairs/service is a nightmare (a near relative and friends have often told that in mobile devices at-least, they keep you dangling for 20-30-40 days for lack of spares)

individual experiences vary though. @ishandon seems fairly satisfied with his purchase.
Also, Micromax is investing heavily in Panel manufacturing and research in current fiscal and plans to do the same in 2016-17.

about Vu :

well, can’t say much except> Devita Saraf’s Papaji started/helped her with ‘her own’ company. They do the worse bullcrap marketing than even Akai TV (from days of yore)

still you may take advice from the first dimer comment here >

Sorry if i sound wrong or insensitive, but 32 inch TVs do not really cost a bomb. Instead of going for trading brands/ assemblers like Vu, Micromax, Croma or even the now almost dead Onida ..you may consider the A-list (mainly because its for your parents. Paying bit more for a less hassles experience)

*trading brands: bringing in pre-assembled or knocked down kits with little or no exposure to ‘actual’ manufacture or without steady in-house supply of spares.

It’s all about what you pay, you will get. I have personally saw their 40T2820 FHD tv and picture quality was just awesome like I mentioned here: http://www.desidime.com/forums/dost-and-dimes/t...

Only doubt is durability of product.

And about LG, I am very big fan of LG and hater of Samsung since many years. I believe that you can buy any product of LG blindly, same about Samsung (except smartphones). Their all products are very good. My first mobile is LG GM200 and still using it. https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

you welcome GRJ https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_cool.gif

actually i am a finicky customer.. Finicky person,

yet in these things I’m bit ‘given up’. The jazzy abbreviations don’t matter to me. Having used and enjoyed EcTV, Uptron, Salora, Sony, Philips, Samsung.. I no longer bother too much.

As it is, if with family the options get reduced. On my seperate set i only feel the need when watching any nature shows or documentary which originally had high quality recording.

In light of what you said, curious to know if any particular ‘feature’ was a Req. from the end-users ¿

By feature, I mean an actual feature (and not faff from marketing literature). I, for one still sometimes go back to our relatives place (where the old TV was shifted/ given) just to watch the picture in picture thing.

Sadly, the junk that is forced down upon us now, doesn’t have dual signal relay. Although the tech has existed for a while. Our signal decoder boxes from DTH operators are ancient kachra.

You already ordered or have narrowed down to the LG? (you used > ‘end up with’)

arey speaking of Salora, I recently saw one at some shop and owner’s staff told me that its working great and also later found that in TVs at-least, support and repairs is just like old times.

I am not pushing for something like a fanboy or ‘because I use/d it, i’ll call it good and call others bad’ syndrome.

i never get such people (including some in this topic) for whom ‘my way’ ‘my choice’ is everything.

I mentioned Salora, because:

i] your initial post hints at something ‘value for money’.

ii] you aren’t dying to have an imax type experience or want to take in a super big/cutting edge (and thus, costly) consumer good.

iii] Salora group has an ethos and intellectual property from years of existance in TV making.

iv] as curiosity when I looked up on-line back then (Apr-May), I found Salora still are easily available on Amazon etcetera.. and are relatively cheaper . This was without even the offers and gimmicks of acquiring GC at discount.

around 16-17 thousand for about your requirement. ( viewing area is usually lesser than the rated size. A part of it invariably hides due to the bezel/chassis. )

Now I’ve ordered on from Flipkart(LG 32LF554A).
I was not in a hunt for a particular feature, i just wanted a TV specifically LED with a big display.

At the first i was having a 40 Inches TV in my mind, but after a live experience at a showroom, it visually seems to quite bigger. So left that idea out.

Actually i wanted to gift one to my parents, for just watching Colors, Star Plus and some new channels https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_toungueout.gif. So i don’t need a 4K or 3D display for this crap. Just for better viewing angle and low power consumption i was having LED and IPS display in my mind.

I was fully in a mood of Micromax, but i was confused regarding this brand and apart from this the online customers aren’t seems to be happy with after sales survive, so i was confused. Then you suggested me about LG, then i found a decent model at a valuable price and i simply cant resist myself from opting that.
As per the specification, the sound and picture quality seems to be good.

Let my parents use it, if they are happy then it okay, else there is always option for return at Flipkart. https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_toungueout.gif

It might be good or even the best brand available, but i don’t want any after sales service headache for my parents.

Lg service center is hardly 100 Meters away from my place, so my Dad can easily contact them. https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif
