My first was nokia 1600 then Spice 5364 after it Nokia 114 and now micromax canvas A1 .

as in I only clearly remember self used items and the one family used earlier is a blur. but back then only Motorola and later Ericsson were popular (Finland’s famous river named brand came later on consumer recall)

T10 was my first.. and I managed to get the flash ROM almost 5-6 years after using it first in 2002.
bought the service cable somehow and got the ROM after long search and active participation on many Ericsson forums.

This was also the time I go to lay my hands on someone’s Nokia Communicator for few days,
and for many nights I could not rest properly thinking if I could ever get something like this for my T10 →

Flashed it with T18’s ROM few years back.
Sturdiest phone and best reception and clarity phone i ever used.. TILL NOW (and I say this after also getting to use a Vertu and the odd iPhones)
Had to revive its original dead battery after 3 years from last use and a cell repair guy could manage it after 3-4 jolts/ shocks directly from his voltmeter.

on job, the first ever phone I got was a second hand Motorola Talkabout T2288 used by some senior
then later I had either got the P7389 or the L 7089 (Motorola Timeport)

can not remember as I had lost it in a travel accident while on office duty and they deducted a token amount that month
had to go one on one with HR guy and then get a police notification report for Company to claim insurance, then got partly reimbursed.

thereafter I only used my T10 for a while.

the first ever phone i bought (and force gifted to family) was the now humble but still in working order: Nokia 3310
(haven’t ever sold or given away a handset that was bought or used exclusively by me)

The best value for money phone back then, which still cost a princely 4000 plus and had all those Snakes games and image messaging etcetera in it

Yes, I also remember the DAPO hysteria. I am not sure, but they were probably also the first ones to officially launch color handsets in India.

Loved that video for reminding me of Snake — must have spent hundreds of hours playing that game around the turn of the century.

because I (like many other) despised Ericsson washing its hands off consumer handset business and giving the rights to Sony for future.
