since u r targeting a router with wifi capability go for tplink or linksys as they are cheap and comes with 3 year warranty.
if ur budget can be increased go for dlink or netgear.. for netgear u can use then150 model..

u r confusing me. tell me are u using a dsl connection like bsnl broadband or cable broadband like tat of hathway?
coz dsl connection requires a modem so u will need a adsl modem+ wifi router or a single adsl modem cum wifi router like the dlink 2640t model.

if its cable connection like tat of hathway a nprmal router wud do.
the normal tplink wifi modem starts at 1000 or so. by buying from ebay uaing some vouchers wud be much cheaper.

bought mine Asus 2-3 yrs ago (forgot when) works fine looks sleek, i’ve attached a external drive and made it a wireless NAS, it can download torrents when machine is switched off, you can connect a wifi modem if necessary, you can setup a wireless print server if necessary, you can setup an ftp server too

acha package hai and this is old now-a-days u might have eve more functionality in some new ones you can directly insert a 3G sim also

Hi,

RJ 45 is the regular ethernet cable.

Where do you connect your hathway cable now? Is it directly connected to your desktop or hathway cable goes to a modem and then from modem connects to pc?

This is the normal layout of router ports…

The one you see in blue color is a WAN port where you need to put your cable connection.

and the rest 4 are Lan ports(yellow) where you will connect your desktop with RJ45 cable which will be provided with the router

do the settings in the router and ur good to go

bhai introvert….cable operator generally provide cat5 cable which comes with RJ45 connector which directly connects to computer on network card which is inbuilt on motherboards unless you have very very old cpu…only telephone operator companies (like bsnl or airtel) provide connection through telephone line which needs modem to convert signals to digital. hope that clears the doubt

There is nothing to laugh about actually cos bhavik is absolutely correct when he says that the cable is directly connected to cpu!

If you do not already know then let me tell you that all the local small private players(mostly cable operators) in the market provide direct connection where you absolutely need nothing but just a rj45 port on your desktop or laptop is more than enough.
They provide direct connection from there servers to your computer and yes you get a static ip too.

@ bhavik

In your case you do not need a modem router just a router will serve your purpose but buying a modem router will also be a good deal in case you switch to some other operator in near future. I personally use D-Link & TP-Link and I love D-Link for its simplicity and easy to easy features.
