why does eBay keep clearing negative feedbacks?

Hi,
In the past when I shopped from eBay got cheated by a seller whose feedback was good but then when after getting cheated I left him negative feedback my feedback was removed by Ebay after 7 days; when I got in touch to their cc team I was informed that the feedback was removed because I had asked it to be removed which I never did; and same thing happened today for another seller for whom I left feedback yesterday has gone missing and amazingly almost all his negative feedbacks for this month (8) have been removed…
How’s this possible?
Any fellow dimers faced the same or does know about the puzzle plz comment

Ebay along with flipkart takes the cake when it comes to lack of transparency. Even if you question ebay they will never tell you the truth and quote their policy as a deterrent. On the other hand i believe amazon is quite fair when it comes to policies.

Not really. Amazon has not published a few scathing reviews that I left for a few items where I have something to say about the seller as well. I suppose there is some level of trepidation everywhere.

Ya this may be one case because I was told that I asked them to remove my feedback whereas I never got in contact with their team.

@Op- most probably the product you purchased would be under manufacturer warranty and seller must have shipped same day (or by powership within a day). In such a case, there is no reason for ebay to tolerate a negative feedback because for product, the seller cannot entertain even a DOA case coz its under warranty, and regarding the service; a faster shipment means seller performance is good so negative feedback is to be removed.
In case of unbranded item, if seller have sold many items then also it can be removed considering many happy buyers so a negative feedback will most probably mean ‘Feedback abuse’ by some competitor seller.

That may be the case for power sellers my first case few months but my recent case is with a seller who has just started selling and has only 40 feedbacks now out of which there is only 3 negative now; whereas day before yesterday there were 15 negative for this month which are no more.

This is exactly what i meant when i said " lack of transparency" . The tagline of ebay says if you are not satisfied with the product you get your money back or replacement but in reality if you buy a product and discover an issue ebay would be happy to refer you to service center even for of DOA items. Why don’t they mention clearly that their 30 days refund policy does not cover product under manufacturer warranty instead they bury this clause somewhere in their T&C. Any naive buyer will just see the 30 days return policy and buy the product only to feel dejected once ebay deserts him and on top if it to rub salt to his wound ebay will be happy to delete his negative feedback also.

On the other hand Amazon and flipkart would replace even items covered under manufacturer warranty for DOA and defective items within first 30 days.

What you say is quite true in many cases. But I would like to share an experience of mine with a purchase of a low end android mobile from ebay. It was DOA. Took it to the service centre to get a DOA certificate as it’s the standard procedure. They told me that only one of the two IMEIs are detected by their system hence there will be delay in processing the request. I tried calling the seller to convey my situation but he kept cancelling my calls to his mobile phone. Then googled his address and found his shop’s landline number. When I called on that number, a boy from his shop answered and when I explained him the situation and asked for the person whose name was on ebay, he just kept me on line for about ten min and then cut the call. This happened not once but twice. I got really frustrated with this attitude of the seller and told ebay guarantee all about that. This way a week passed me running to and from service centre keeping ebay cc in loop. The seller never even bothered to respond all that time. Finally after about ten days, ebay cc asked me for a copy of the job sheet of service centre as a proof of my claim and then asked me to return the mobile to the seller’s address after which they initiated a refund. The day the mobile reached his address, that son of an angel mailed me asking why I had returned the mobile. I got the nerve of my lifetime and wrote a nice mail to him (cc to ebay) how such sellers should be thrown out of ebay platform.

The seller had got 99% positive feedback from more than 500 ratings. Does that mean what he did was right? I’ve not given a feedback yet even after a month. Now why should I give him a positive feedback after all his irresponsible actions. Why should ebay defend him in this case?

I’m thinking of leaving a -ve feedback but the OP’s case makes me think again. What is the point if ebay clears it immediately? It’s all hocus-pocus. https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_sad.gif

Yeah what is the use of such a system when everything is to be decided by the seller and platform provider and there’s no role of the buyer in rating them for their service they provide by eating their hard earned money

I bought a product. The shipping was slow. The seller was not a good communicator. He had given me an incorrect mobile number on messages. And he would take 2 days to reply to messages on Ebay. Finally, when the product reached me it was found to be of low quality and wasn’t what he claimed on product page.

When I called him he told me to contact Ebay and settle the claim with them. I did that. Ebay took more than a month for this. They promise to do it within 10 working days.

So I left negative feedback for the seller and for ebay too. Seller called me the same day after I left that feedback. Spoke for 20 minutes. He explained his side of things. I told him about my experience. He begged me to remove the negative feedback. He even bribed me by saying that he would send a replacement product. So, I agreed. Anyway, I wanted to end that call.

Two days later. My feedback was removed from Ebay and I received a warning from Ebay for policy violation but they didn’t tell me which policy. He never sent me a replacement.

I made two deductions.

  1. Seller had a friend who worked in Ebay with whom he connived.
  2. By calling me, the seller recorded the whole conversation and reproduced the part in which I agreed for the replacement product in exchange for the feedback removal to Ebay. In essence he laid down a trap for me and caught me as I was a naive buyer.

Just now completed an online chat with eBay CC regarding this issue and his answers clearly showed he was not eager to answer on the issue rather gave answers irrelevant to the topic..
