After getting to know that win 10 free upgrade is ending soon, im planning to upgrade now but before going ahead wanted to know dimers reviews on the same

@hese
http://www.desidime.com/forums/hot-deals-online...

pls share ur exp

1. i hope this upgrade doesn’t delete any data especially from c drive.
2. is it better than 8.1? and how is the performance and all. does it support everything as there might be compatibility issues and all
3. i have win 8.1 genuine on dell 8gb ram, i7 processor & 1 tb hdd lappy. will i face any performance issues?

Reasons i didnt go for upgrade from day 1 when it was available for free
1. main reason is ms office 2013 genuine expired but still using it.
2. software compatibility issues as win 10 had just released
3. i heard that we cant run license expired/pirated software on win 10

reviews needed. tia.

@getready bro, is thr huge diff btw w10 & 8.1?

A lot of difference especially UI elements, windows 10 is more user friendly
Performance is also better but some issues are there like 100% disk usage, 100% ram usage, this is more of compatibility issues not particularly generic issue
If you don’t use Microsoft store apps then there won’t be much of a difference but if you use them (like Mail, Skype, Movies, Music..apps) then you will love windows 10
Microsoft edge browser is a waste but Movies n TV app is very good it supports lots of video formats natively like x264, X265 HEVC and you will get almost twice battery backup over other apps like VLC, MPC
Music app is also good much better than windows 8.1 one
Office apps (word, PowerPoint ….) are available on playstore for free ( only read mode)

thx bro, i dont use win apps much + i need ms ofc.
currently i hold original ms ofc 2013 but even though it asks to enter prod key as it has expired im able to use it like editing n creating docs.
in win 10 can we use non original ms ofc for creating n editing docs?

We cant turn off updates on Windows 10 [Driver updates, OS updates whatever they might be]
Although there are few views to pause updates like setting your WIFI network as Mobile network to completely turn off Windows update service from services App/tab

what abt non original softwares like ms ofc and all?

Got everything non… no issues faced… https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_wink.gif
.
Incidentally my old Compaq lappy almost died ‘cos of win 10 upgrade… but somehow I revived it and curiously tried win 10 again on it two months after the incident… now it’s working fine on win 10… https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_biggrin.gif

so this upgradtation is just like updated we received in windows right?
do we need to follow a diff process for win 10 up-gradation unlike we do for normal updates?

@rajrocks

One way to upgrade is via windows update
Other one is to create bootable USB/disc and run it within the operating system [You can also install windows 10 via BIOS but upgrade usually doesnt work or it may ask for windows 10 serial]

1It will not delete c drive but it will be better to copy imp file to other drive
2 Sooner or later it will b better than 8.1 ,it will b more secure and microsoft has plans to not to release new windows for some tym
3 no u wont face performance issue, they are working hard to make it better

For ms office i cant say anything
For compatibility issue, ya u will face issues ..u will need to diwnload drivers from intel website ,and other drivers, it takes time but evrything can be sorted

3 i cant tell about using pirated softwar as i m not on windows 10
But i dnt think they can stop piracy

if some error occurs then thr is no way it to be re configured due to reasons
even restore option is risky so thinking a lot before going for win 10

I dont think you will need to download additional drivers from intel or OEM websites
I have a 7 year old HP PC with intel first gen i3 and i got all the driver updates via windows update
and my device doesn’t even have official windows 8 drivers even [OEM abandoned my PC much before windows 8 release ]

Bro, I always use Acronis True Image to take complete backup of drives before proceeding any major install or upgrade. recommend the same to you. You can revert back if something untoward happens. As for win 7 or win 8.1 drivers, u can either reinstall (after deleting) or download from respective manufacturer website… For my old compaq lappy, I did not need to reinstall any drivers as such… https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_biggrin.gif

even restore option is risky so thinking a lot before going for win 10

Bro, I always use Acronis True Image to take complete backup of drives before proceeding any major install or upgrade. recommend the same to you. You can revert back if something untoward happens. As for win 7 or win 8.1 drivers, u can either reinstall (after deleting) or download from respective manufacturer website… For my old compaq lappy, I did not need to reinstall any drivers as such… https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_biggrin.gif

bro seems ur not getting my point. im not talking abt drivers. im talking abt official 3rd party softwares which are configured and which cant be reconfigured when occurs or if its reinstalled fresh. even image backups doesn’t solves seomtimes

OK, in my lappy there were many program/software which were installed in win 8.1 before upgrade. After the upgrade i didn’t require me reinstall any of them. U can go ahead, I am sure you won’t face any issue. https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

@rajrocks if you haven’t don’t yet tell I will guide you without losing any data
As afar I can tell most drivers support Windows 10 and lot of drivers which are made for 8.1 worked for me when iI wa using the windows 10 preview . But if there is a specific driver your holding up for than tell me those drivers I will check and tell..

I can’t say windows 10 is perfect but windows 8/8.1 is the second worst OS next to vista.
