It really pains me that for the first time here I am taking interest in a books topic, even looking up some items and yet neither up-voting and/or reco.’ing for premium deals.

mostly because the rut within Amazon renders these ‘discounts’ to be a misnomer.

for example:

EAN: 9780099244721
EAN: 9780394824574

Just because these are imprints from Random House UK or US does not mean that the words are printed on gold leaf instead of paper.

the local imprints too are of good quality and they are in-fact being sold legally.
one can not be too sure how the RHUK RHUS book one buys was brought into India

the same childrens’ book (Moonwalk) though in paperback binding is sold for 115rs [check infibeam]
the US [Random House] imprint though is costly everywhere, I doubt that these are very recent re-prints.

similarly the Micheal Crichton too has many imprints and the latter ones are all with printed prices around 400-500 only [check any books seller site or infibeam]

foreign books getting junked in lesser markets was always a trend, but in the Indian context they are misusing it. 1990s released books are practically royalty free now, then why fake pricing is needed

it is just that I have personally picked up many new (and some of them old) or used books that people import as scrap / raddi at Rs.60 to Rs. 100 a Kilo.
In-fact the Gupta’s have now become acquaintances and most of their stock they tell me comes from library disposals and stuff people donate to U.N. or third world projects

people in Bombay already buy mint condition children’s books and dictionaries from their sales like →

buyhatake has a better alternative in the human brain kindly use your efforts too

those prices you see are of different imprints.

The ridiculously priced imprints are smuggles/ imports of books by Random House U.S. , Random House U.K. etcetera.

The Indian editions from publishers like Arrow or RH India are printed, bound in India; hence ‘has to be’ priced locally

Ohh i save my brain & time for better things then to waste checking imprints, so keep using the alternative.If it is available at 1/10th the price it doesn’t matter who published or where it got published..i will rather not be happy seeing 95% discount.

THAT is exactly my point and karma to you. If quality is good locally then why take imports.
