Datawind Ubisurfer 9 for only Rs 3949

another bad news its windows CE

I have used this or a similar product still lying somewhere.., some time back
some honest reviews of the product
will post model details if I can find it..
1. it has so so to good battery life for being el cheapo
2. it cost about ~8k INR along with bundled 1 year data package of Tata
now the sad part starts
3. It cannot play all video formats., very limited ones..
4. horrible CE implementation.
5. software includes dialer and browser…. ubisurfer something….
it can’t remember whatever its doing on the current display page/tab
meaning… say you have a long page/form ( you are creating a new ebay account)
now you fill the first visible section scroll down.. upper parts dissappear., you say ohhh then refill upper part and go down to submit by that time lower parts have dissappeared.
6. meagre ram..
7. video being displayed is some kind of dithering 256color+… not 16 bit color.
8. browser is written in something like Visual Basic for embedded stuff; I can bet this browser was a pre university college project not even graduate school.
9. Browser uses server side accelerations to compress data and speed up but is buggy and screws up everything royally.
(instead of licensing opera engine or simply implementing JVM and installing opera mini would have been million times better)
10. things like google docs etc just dont work. most new websites dont work.
I got bored typing bad things about it, dont wish to badmouth this company. But wish to say avoid such products.,
by the way I didnt buy it…somebody I know bought it…thinking he could watch free porn unlimited…
