@Bumblefoot bro: It’s a massive responsibility, I don’t think it’s a wise choice. Even right now people object if certain posts become/ don’t become FPD after being promoted by Mods/ Admins, imagine the amount of curses that will be flung around if people were upset with their peers’ choices, especially if it’s a limited set of peers.

IMO, if such a system is implemented, you’re going to have to pick the promoters very carefully.

And are there better ways of doing it , so that these deals are not missed out ??

Add a second button next to the ‘suggest for FPD’ button, which allows people to remind Mods/ Admins in case a suggested deal is overlooked. Or encourage users to use the “Alert admin” button to do this.

I would list out few of my suggestions here that I foresee as an impact of this initiative.

1. Good initiative as it would allows the user to get his effort recognized by few of the would be nominated members

2. Somewhere down the line it would invite few biases as treating someone’ s post via Admin is a generalized process. But when one user is going to treat another, may have some conflict. I am not sure

3. In this scenario, where the nominated member is promoting someone’s deal to homepage, it should give the liberty to another user who found it to be not in justice range according to him/her

4. The user whose deal is promoted to the homepage, should have been check wisely that no other user should come up with an issue/complaint over it. As it would be a question over the promoters credibility

My quick question here: How are we planning to schedule this? Would the nominated guy be working for Desidime, I mean deals are being posted whole day here, how are we planning to fix up the schedule and delegating the responsibilities?

I assume most of the Giants here in our community are working, so how is it possible for them to keep a track of this because it is something that requires close monitoring?

I think this will cause unnecessary conflict. Even I missed on numerous deals because I return from office and post deals. By the time Admin comes, product goes OOS or Price increased after 3-4 hours. Even If you select from your please do keep it confidential or else you will again find serious/Hilarious sections in DnD/Site questions.

And if at all this system is implemented, my vote will go to Rajdesidime & Marketdimer

Not a good initiative… As it will make promoter chance to do partiality to some deals…

And there is always a positive as well as negative side of everything, so for this as well there will be negative things…But overall this can prove to be a very positive action in long terms if the selected people perform their job great…
Those selected members will b facing heavy personal messaging even….so they will hv a stress kinda job…and obviously one such member should not be able to select his/her post as fpd (thats kinda very stupid to point).

B/w i can also participate in the same if other dimers believe so…

I would suggest a few things:

1) Don’t announce the name of the dimers who would be given this special permission so that they can do their job without being disturbed by personal messages.

2) A thread suggested by such dimer(s) can’t be promoted to FPD by him/her/them.

3) It’s obvious that s/he can’t be permitted to promote his/her thread to FPD.

4) As it is a test drive (one day affair), I would also suggest 5-6 dimers to be given such special permission for better implementation.

One more thing… What’s the final status of deals being promoted to FPD with seller warranty? LG mobile was an exception. But yesterday also another deal was promoted to FPD with seller’s warranty. Was it an exception as well?

I’m slightly opposed to the idea in the first place.
But if it is implemented, please ensure people like me DON’T get a chance to promote FPDs
While I’m very honored, very very surprised, and very very very confused to see my name being mentioned here, especially by senior dimers in the same comments as biggies like Achilles, TronGalaxy, dimepincher etc, I’m essentially a newbie. You can ignore my joining date, check out my first post on desidime. It’s barely two and a half months old. Made an account, forgot about it, remembered it when I had a bit of free time, and started using it actively.
I think that there are far too many active senior dimers to even begin to consider people new to desidime.
Besides, I wouldn’t know a good deal if it slapped me in the face (a sentiment that will be shared by mods if they look into my history of FPD suggestions )
BTW, I think that’s a great metric to select new promoters. Check out whose FPD suggestions have a good success rate of making deals FPDs. It’ll reveal who has the best FPD predicting potential
Like I said, I’m barely past the Newbie stage, I wouldn’t dare nominate certain users as FPD promoters, I just don’t know desidime users THAT well

Would have mentioned both the names but Achi got busy and Mr N is running away from responsibilities.

Mr N : it doesn’t matter whether you are newbie or senior, it all depends on your decisive power
