IRCTC Wallet does not work during Tatkal.
You pay bank charges for loading money (banks treat is as normal IRCTC txn) and then again you pay for using the wallet. Overall, not a good option for those who book tickets only a few times during the year.

If you do not book a ticket but load money in wallet, it will stay there until you purchase a ticket. There is no option to take money out of wallet. Pretty stupid.e
