ainol-novo.com is an official store operated by ainol. Not any reseller. If you go through their FAQs you will get it.

@Vasanth bro if you do a quick IP lookup you will see www.onda-sa…om is also hosted on same IP. I am sure Ainol doesn’t handle that one too.

Ainol isn’t the best brand from China. There are many other better brands. To name on ‘Chi’ or SmartQ

The only difference between crystal and aurora II is Jelly bean. Yes the Crystal comes with jelly bean !

Guys, I have received my product. I have been using it for 4 days now. The build quality, screen clarity, sound effects and battery backup everything is mind blowing. The ear phone coming the product itself is too good. Everything claimed in the spec is true. I have just taken this tab to office to show it to my colleques. No body felt that this is a chinese tablet

The specs are too good to be true, been using this tab for last 10 days. One major problem though:
Battery recharge through usb takes whopping 8-12 hours on day to day use. @Vasant let me know your charging time, I emailed these guys about it and asked for refund as the battery was taking lot of time, they said (ainol india) you should have returned it in 7 days. Anyways I am asking for replacement. Normally it should take 5-6 hours to recharge the battery. The Elf II never got shipped with DC charger only the usb wall charger.

1. How is the sound quality? Does it really have a Wolfson dac?
2. How does the chrome browser work?

Chrome is awesome, but no flash. Use dolphin HD to open flash websites.

Hi badname, I have not tried recharge through USB. But the recharge through the charger takes 5-6 hrs. After full recharge, I played games (angry bird and some car race) for 2.5 hrs and watched HD video for 0.5 hrs and listened to music for around 0.5 hrs. The battery got dropped just by 50%. I felt it’s a quite good battery backup. When I played race game it heated up little bit. With angry bird I did not feel heat up.

Hi lekhwani, I did not take effort to verify whether it really has wolfson dac. But the sound quality is simply amazing in earphone. There is an android app called “eualizer”. With that it sounded even better. The default browser coming with the tab itself is working fine. Hence I did not try any other browser.

Hi Pajju, This model cannot be upgraded to Jelly bean. If you need jelly bean, you should go for Ainol crystal.

usb charging takes more time because of lower current flow in mah, using ac charger which comes in package will charge it quick. its universal truth for every electronic

I purchased this tab few days back and I am pretty happy for the price I paid. FYI it can be upgraded unofficially to Jelly Bean however firmware version 4.0.4 is already out.

There was an issue with the touch in the earlier which has been fixed in 0705 firmware. Screen clarity is really good as compared to any tab in the market other than Ipad. Far better than Samsung Tab2 as well.

I bought the Aurora II from ainolstore.com in July at $160 via paypal. It took around 8-10 days for the delivery to Bangalore. The price has gone down by $50 since then .

The tab is good in performance. There are some small issues but nothing major. They have a new tab called Flame (with better touch panel, bluetooth, 5mp cam on back, metal body and higher res screen) now at $169 ($179 was launch price).

The Aurora II is a good buy if your usage is for gaming (high end games work nicely), internet (I have used only wifi, no dongle), reading books, movies (almost all formats supported, even blue ray rips), music is good (through headphones, but there is a hiss sound when there is nothing played), loudspeakers are ok if you are in quiet place, screen is excellent (compare a branded LG IPS display to the cheap generic ones used on MMX and others, you will know once you see the green or blue color tinge on the others).

Again, the touch response is not very smooth (you will get used to it after couple of hours of usage), though there is no lag or slowdown on the device. It’s too fast and can handle multiple apps together. Bought OTG cable from ebay and connected my 1TB WD HDD and it works (the battery drains too fast with this). Also my Transcend 4GB pendrive, Microsoft USB mouse, chinese card reader for SD cards, all work without issue.

I have loaded it up with lots of comics and manga and really love the way it performs. Battery life is decent, 4-5 hours while playing videos or reading, when on wifi but little less when playing games.

Maps work but only with internet(there is no GPS chip, can’t expect at this price anyways). Can use for office documents. I guess only viewer is installed by default. Download Kingsoft from google play (its free).

If you are sceptical of a chinese brand and warranty, this is not for you. But if you are looking for a cheap and decent tablet for occasional entertainment use, try it. You won’t regret.

Edit: By the way, ainolstore had opened my tab, put a scratch guard, changed language to english and probably quick tested it before sending, so chances of getting a damaged piece is less.

Go for Aurora II and wait for an official 4.1 update or the unofficial 4.1 is already out. Check the video link in my previous post.

Guys, Internet is flooded with too many reviews about this tablet. I just have a question about custom duty for the users paying directly in USD.
I have been using this tablet for 3 weeks now. Very happy about its performance.

I’d suggest buying from Indian distributors as you get warranty. If u buy directly from ainol then its bricked if its defective. The ebay sellers give dead on arrival replacements. You end up paying 1000 rs extra in the end.
