Should I purchase this through ppobox, or ask my relatives in UK to purchase product and then ship it through some International service ? and what about customs?

a)Ppobox quote includes both custom and shipping charges.
b)If you purchase it via your relatives, then customs could be avoided by marking the product as gift (Gift items till 10K don’t incur customs duty). I have no idea about shipping charges in this case.

BTW, 29 pounds ereader should not be charged any customs whatsoever but these services will charge it anyway. I never had to pay customs for 50$ value items bought directly

It could be.
Although i have no experience as i don’t have their membership. But aramex provides us BOE (bill of entry). I believe 29 pound ereader will not be charged customs (shipping fees is same in both the cases)

Ask your relatives about approx shipping cost, the amount you will save on customs for glowlight will be large via this route.

P.S. – may i know why you are buying this. Have you considered other options

Why will some be interested in this deal

20 pounds = rs.2700
69 pounds = rs.6000+

Galaxy tab from india = 8900 inr.

There are just ebook readers and that too B&N proprietary.

Deal Cadet Deal Cadet

i totally agree paying 6-7k for an ebook reader doesnt make too much of a sense
ebook readers however cause less stress while reading then reading books on tablets

Because this deal helps to protect our eyes. Note that there is no difference between reading from an electronic paper display and a physical paper. Reading on galaxy tab is a ridiculous idea, atleast for me.

cybermenindia247 wrote:

you can covert your ebooks in calibre or you can root your device and read any ebook format. I am not favoring this particular ereader. It is available cheap and can run lot of android apps, these points favor it. In terms of screen and firmware there are better/latest ereaders in the market.

List of compatible apps :-

eReading Apps
•Aldiko 2.0 – Works very well, one of the best ereading apps on the Nook Touch. Can read Adobe DRM ebooks, including library ebooks downloaded with the OverDrive app.
•Kindle – The Kindle app works well. The only downside is that there’s extra black flashing when turning pages because the animated page-turns can’t be turned off.
•Nook – The Nook Android app works okay. It’s rather slow at times. The main benefit it adds over the Nook’s base reading app is landscape mode.
•Kobo – The Kobo app is buggy. Sometimes it works and other times it doesn’t.
•OverDrive – With this app you can use a web browser (Opera) to browse and download ebooks from the library directly to the Nook Touch. (The newer versions of Overdrive don’t need the browser.)
•Google eBooks – This app works and has more features than the built-in app for the iriver Story HD.
•Beam Reader – A paid PDF app with basic features.
•ezPDF Reader – This is the best PDF app for the Nook Touch that I’ve tested. The one downside is excessive screen flashing.
•Moon+Reader
•Cool Reader
•FBReader
•Mantano Reader

News Apps
•Google Reader – This apps seems to work most of the time. Occasionally it force closes when trying to load an article.
•CNN – Works really well as long as you don’t mind reading white text on a black background. Page buttons work for scrolling pages.
•New York Times – Top news stories works, other sections require a subscriptions. The apps seems to work well but has very small text and scrolling can be a little awkward.
•Fox News – This app works pretty well for the most part, scrolling can be tricky at times.
•Engadget
•NewsRob
•News and Weather

More Apps
•Dropbox – Works great for wirelessly transferring files.
•Amazon Appstore – Ironically this app works great on the Nook Touch. Sometimes a download won’t work at first but it will if you keep trying.
•Opera Mobile and Opera Mini Web

If possible, it is better to wait for 10" size. Because no 10" ereader has front-light capability. A new ereader with front light capability could be released by onyx or pocketbook within next 3-4 months
The main 9.7" ereaders are -
a) Onyx Boox M92/Icarus Excel – The best ereader among large screen readers. It’s firmware support for technical pdfs is superb (Cost – 330$). I bought this in December
b) Pocketbook Pro 912/913 – Pocketbook firmware is good also. It ranks 2nd to onyx & it uses screen which is one generation older to M92 and kindle DX
(Cost 250-300$)
c) Kindle Dx – Discontinued by amazon, can be found refurbished for cheap on ebay; One cannot highlight or make notes on pdf files in kindle DX (Refurbished price -150$)
d) Jetbook Color 2 – It has latest colored triton 2 screen by eink. Colored screens are far from developed yet, it is better to wait for few more years. Their contrast levels are very poor. The screen looks dark greyish instead of white. Buy colored ereader only if you study books with heavy colored diagrams such as in biology. Poor firmware (Price – 500$)

I own a Kindle 4. How’s the readability quality of this reader compared to a Kindle4 and Kindle Paperwhite?

Deal Cadet Deal Cadet
Link Copied

I have considered kindle and kobo and have GNote already but reading book on it even in lowest brightness and night mode is impossible for long duration.

So i was planning to buy e-ink display device.

Although amazon has large book store but Nook can be easily rooted and I have calibre installed to convert files to epub. I also hate advertisement on kindle.

Earlier I was getting nook @4500-4700 through ishop from USA. But this deal seems to be worth it.

I am just worried about shipping as 1000 seems more when actual device is of 3500. https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

Kindle paperwhite has better resolution (758×1024) than nook (600×800). The front light display is also better (being white as compared to the bluish tint found in nook readers). Users buy nook mainly because it can be rooted and various android apps (such as news reading) can be installed
Screen technology is same (Eink pearl) in kindle 4, paperwhite or Nook.

If i were on the lookout for ereader – i will consider these 4
1)kindle paperwhite
advantages – cheap, good resolution, large community support, best frontlit illumination
disadvantages – frontlight cannot be turned off completely, doesn’t have ability to make notes, non expandable memory
2) Onyx i62HD firefly
advantages – good resolution, best pdf handling capacity, ivona TTS software , better firmware – ability to make notes, frontlight can be turned off completely
disadvantages – costly, epub handling needs improvement
3) Kobo Aura HD
advantages – best resolution till date, 6.8 inch screen size
disadvantages – costly, kobo firmware is bad, doesn’t have ability to make notes.
4) Nook Glowlight
advantages – can be rooted, cheap
disadvantages – low resolution

Yes, I think Getting it via UK Airmail will be cheap but parcel may take time in custom clearance.
10$ shipping by ppobox is justified as they deliver quickly. I believe rest of the money they will pocket themselves

I agree to this. I regret not buying it then. I bought one last week
But Rooted Nook is still a very advanced ereader. And other ereaders suffer from the same fate
