I bought a 250gb version of 840 evo, using 10% cashback on FK. Cost me 8200 nett. This is the best of the lot. It blows Kingston/Sandisk/Corsair/Crucial out of the water.

It rocks!

Kingston used to be good but now they make worst SSD. Best consumer grade SSD is from crucial followed BT Samsung evo. I myself use a Samsung evo SSD. Works great.

Can’t believe the discussion has gone along so far without anyone bringing in specs and benchmarks. http://ssdboss.com/ssds/Samsung-840-EVO-120-GB-...
http://ssd.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Samsung-84...
Evo 840 > Kingston V300

http://www.anandtech.com/show/7173/samsung-ssd-...

Vu&S for the amazon/ ebay price (only one piece left on ebay)

Just a screenshot from userbenchmark. com (check proper trustworthy reviews and benchmarks for performance, go by customer reviews on shopping sites only for info on warranty, service etc)

FEW DAYS EARLIER

500GB Samsung evo was 16999 – 5000 = 11,999 so cost per GB is Rs 24,but now even if we get at the specified rate of 4,650 (which we can not) then per GB cost is Rs 38.75.Which doesn’t make a good investment for the present situation,if you could wait a few more days, i bet it would become much cheaper

during the sale last time Intel 335 240GB SSD was sold for Rs 6,300 (per gb is 26.25)

it is totally a great performer all-around, have a look at Kristian Vättö review for AT :
http://www.anandtech.com/show/6388/intel-ssd-33…

And here is the direct hand on hand comparison for intel and Samsung : http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/695?…78

so if you have not ordered, it is wise to wait a few more days,BTW even Samsung 840 EVO 250GB drives were available for 6,300 few days back.

Any one who is planing to buy SSD please check PrimeABGB’s ONLYSSD site : http://www.onlyssd.com/bu…d/ (currently down).they always have competitive pricing.

Anyways VU for the find deadman.

The Paytm deal is long gone, but it’s available at Amazon now at 4590
http://www.amazon.in/Samsung-120GB-2-5-840-SATA...

Or on eBay at same price http://www.ebay.in/itm/like/321421...10 (EBAYTYROO1) or lower with EBAYMOBI15 (mobikwik specific)

Thanks for the rest of the info, karma given https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

EDIT: Price for the 120GB 840 Evo at http://www.onlyssd.com/product/samsung-840-evo-... is Rs. 4799, just in case the website is inaccessible for you.

Very bad RMA service of Transcend

i know samsung beats transcend but the main factor for buying a ssd is read speed. If the read speed is more than only you can get fast access time and fast speed. transcend have good read speed

Sequential read speed is 5-6% better, 4k random read speed is 50-55% worse. AFAIK system speed depends more on random read speed, sequential read speed is more relevant for large files/ media.

OK bhai, haar maan gaye aap ke aage https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_toungueout.gif
TS256GSSD370 is great.
Whether it’s better than the 840 Evo is questionable though. Benchmarks say it’s not. You say it is. The jury’s still out on this one https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

i am not saying that TS256GSSD370 is better than samsung evo 840. Both the ssd have its pro and cons.

Transcend SSD’s are no match for Samsung evo. Samsung has least failure rates among SSD and offers much superior read/write speed compared to competitors . another good option is Crucial mx100.
