Yes, We should buy Western Digital hard disk instead. It is usually available at the same rate. Lowest price i have seen for the same is 109$ and it carries 2 year warranty

Amazon takes import deposit in advance from us and then refunds us the balance if amazon would have to pay less. It takes 60 days and is mentioned in their terms and conditions. drarunkgpi is advising us to mark the item as gift. That way we can probably avoid paying any import taxes. I don’t know if this scheme is successful, but it seems like a cool idea

There is no such guarantee. For electronic items, I don’t think it will be cleared duty free.

@Others : Don’t expect a refund for the import fee deposit, but you do get the warranty in India.
