Ok, thanks for pointing that out. You motivated me enough to do some research to remove my doubts about how seller promo codes work on Amazon. Let me reiterate what I said with only one change, highlighted in bold:

Yes I now firmly believe this was not an authorized promotion by amazon and the seller was giving the same and poor guy got looted by the buying community .Also look at the stark difference between this and IRCTC codes .Amazon knew those were their promotionts first they closed the IRCTCAMZ code which tells u that they knew people started looting them then after anther 2 hrs or so they stopped the IRCTC30S & IRCTC30P .So in all amazon knew that all these codes were misued however dint try to cancel orders since it was their own promotion and not the seller promotion .This mail atleast makes it clear that since it was not Amazon promoted codes they were not liable to honour the same .So guys next time we may still have a chance over it .But tresseme orders getting cancelled is a bit weird .That was fulfilled by cloudtail what explanation do they give one is what I’m curious about .

I also finally received the cancellation email.

No abuse, just one account, ordered just one quantity.

Today i received a mail from Amazon..

mine was got cancelled two days back.. but i am not going to beg for 200 or 100…………

haha good one! But why trap? a topic with 20000 30000 page refreshes (views) means at least half that number of people might have gone to amazon? They too have tracking their trending listings, only if the system detected some hanky-panky (cross links, related party transactions) in (to quote you) ‘few’ of the accounts.. only then those may have been sacrificed.

my order got canceled since they claimed it as price error

today delivered 3 packs of aa battery..may b tommorow i will recieve remaining three ..6 shipped out of 13 ..7 cancelled as price error..still i looted.. thanks desidime

Agreed, Very true.. If we keep an eagle eye on the deals and poke on them, Amazon too, for that matter any website, would to know and analyze why a sudden rush on a particular deal or set of products… And like you said any hanky-panky would lead to causal analysis.. Thus leading to preventive and such measures…

3 of my order cancelled showing OOs as the reason. But that’s Ok with me as I got Genius SW-2.1 355 at Rs. 60 few days back from Amazon. Thank god !

Hope you got the speakers in lightning deal for 59, I added to cart and got 15 mts of time to complete purchase, unfortunately it said OOS when I clicked on continue, thought its pricing error and Amazon cancelled deal. Bought 0n next day for 104 in lightning deal.

I would not say it’s a loot. Amazon has 100% right to cancel any order due to price error issue as they are doing it right now. But they don’t do that always and I strongly believe to make some customer feel happy so that they keep coming to their website and buy things. It also entice other people as well who are waiting for a chance to grab such a deal after hearing from those who got it. So the traffic keeps coming and coming to amazon’s website and you will get a feeling like they are too good. But at the end of the day it’s all business policy.

It’s not like they are showing mercy to us or giving us something free without any purpose. For eg. here some of the customers got their product shipped and delivered while others not. Amazon did it on purpose. Those who got it will feel great. Who did not but got a cancellation mail got the message Amazon is in control here to whom they will send free of charge orders or not even after a valid order. It’s not like someone has hacked the website or something but it was a total valid offer. If it was a coupon code mistake which was published by error then they should have cancelled all of the orders. But emotion has nothing to do with business.

So I said thank god as it was not for amazon’s greatness I got the speaker delivered but I would say god has gave me this opportunity. Now coming to the word “loot” – I can see many are too addicted to use the word here. Look up the word "loot in any online / offline dictionary and tell me what you find . Anyway, amazon lists such deals from time to time intentionally and I paid 60 bucks for the speaker directly to amazon and once amazon agreed upon on the deal and checked their stock and other things nicely only then I got the item delivered. But they could have cancelled it at any time like the batteries. Even recall it from it’s way. I would not have minded. I would have just sit back, relax and keep an eye open one more such deal . After all, it’s a cat and mouse game.
