Swiggy and zomato both charge 20 to 30% over and above restaurant prices is a known fact and their business model… if you can get delivery directly from restaurants then go for it… otherwise use apps for convenience or sometimes decent offers… and yes you need to pay for convenience as they are in business not charity… disclaimer – I do not hold any shares of Zomato…

Yes. I am using updated versions of both the app.
They don’t restaurants give them new menu with hype rates to food delivery companies
If you use coupons and cashback offers food becomes cheaper than restaurants actual price
I have tried many restaurants
if you have membership than food is loot
if you don’t have membership than you are saving travelling time
both benefits us only

No cred option in the app.. 
everyone know it is costly compared to restaurant charges. we pay extra for convenience of home delivery
