Strange that many are rushing for KYC everywhere. Surveillance and privacy aside, your docs will be used, rather misused in so many ways. Try and understand their gameplan

for credit cards, we are giving all the documents including bank statements to bank. If we are trusting them why not amazon.

There is another aspect to this – wallet companies are incuring huge costs for KYC and it has made the business unviable. Absorbing such high costs also means much lesser benifits to customers. Reason why we’re seeing much lesser cashbacks of late is directly related to government policies (I won’t even say RBI policies as now there’s hardly even a visible difference between government and RBI).

Bigger companies like Amazon may still be able to absorb the costs, (while reducing discounts) but smaller ones will be killed. And this will lead to much worse monopolies which is very bad for us customers.

And as you can see RBI doesn’t care two hoots because for them big data and control is way more important than any other consideration.
