Meeting to break deadlock on August 4 after management backs out of talks on Thursday.

The strike by Flipkart and Myntra workers entered its fourth day on Thursday, as talks between the management and MNS office bearers failed to take place, even as workers claimed 10,000 products lie undelivered at distribution offices of the e-commerce companies. A meeting has now been scheduled for August 4, in an attempt will be made to break the deadlock.

According to workers who are affiliated to Maharashtra Navnirman Kamgar Sena — MNS’s workers union —the management who had initially agreed to a meeting on Thursday backed out at the last minute, and the police were called after the workers gathered at Flipkart’s Andheri office.

MNS Kamgar Sena secretary Sachin Gole told Mirror, “We hoped to discuss issues with the management. However, the meeting could not take place on Thursday. We have been told it will now take place on Tuesday.”

Gole claimed the workers are running out of patience, as the HR department have told them that they should directly raise issues with them rather than insisting on MNS’ mediation.

According to Gole, the management of both e-commerce logistic firms continued to not recognise the MNS Kamgar Sena’s role in running the union. “They appear to be uncomfortable in talking to us,” he said. The MNS Kamgar Sena has close to 400 delivery boys of Flipkart and Myntra from Mumbai under its fold, and has also announced plans to expand forming unions in other areas of Thane, Kalyan and beyond.

Meanwhile, goods arriving at Flipkart’s distribution offices at Fort, Lower Parel and Tardeo have remained unattended to since Monday and are accumulating. “There are about 10,000 undelivered products,” a worker claimed. Deliveries of Motorola’s latest mobile handset, the Moto G (3rd generation) too have been hit in areas where delivery boys are striking.

Officials of both Flipkart and Myntra said that some of the issues raised were unreasonable. “Uniforms, for instance, are issued as two sets a year, but the workers are asking for five. Also, they have a 6-day work week, and weekend offs are rooster-based, unlike long work hours being alleged by the workers,” an official said.

An Ekart spokesperson said, “We are making alternative delivery operations to ensure that all our shipments affected by this strike are reaching customers in the quickest possible way.”

For Chennai I places order with faster delivery.
Exp date 2nd August.
