Just a word of advice. Xiaomi devices aren’t good as they were before. There are quality issues and you’ll be lucky if your phone and charger last one year.
Moreover, they have no idea of customer service. If your phone develops a fault (it will), you will have no chance but to discard it as there is a severe lack of spares and trained personnel.
Saying that as someone who’s had a nightmarish experience with Xiaomi recently and lost an in-warranty phone worth 12k because of sheer incompetence on their part.
+1, thats why I m refraining myself from buying much tempting recent cheap mi phones..
None had gone through without any troubles for more than 1 month.
Mi5 was a disaster for me because it came with bugs just out of the box. The first time i tried talking a photo, the app force closed. When I contacted their support, they told me they don’t give money back and asked me to take the phone to service centre.
They are not giving away free phones and they should be testing it well before selling.
Sad that people still want to buy their phones because of the lower cost without considering the cost of not being able to use the phones as and when we need it.
Please research well before buying. Xiaomi sells cheap phones. But not quality ones.
I also got carried away each time by the media hype and also felt that i was unlucky not to have got a good piece each time.
My current phone is in service centre as it came with faulty motherboard.
Any alternative of redmi 3s

You are very brave and forgiving.
Why did you continue buying Xiaomi phones? If I have problems with a brand twice, I will NOT buy it third time.
@image wrote:Because of the price, the online reviews and also i got used to features like automatic call recording which many others brands doesn’t offer ( many phones needs to be rooted to offer call recording. This voids warranty)

This is their business model. Offer by far the best price/performance package with rubbish quality and deliberately poor after sales service so that people keep returning even after getting stung. Don’t fall into that trap.

How many redmi note 3 usere have faced tactility problem in power and volume buttons ? I’m using it for 4 months and now the buttons are pushed little inside . That’s poor the build quality is. They have used cheap metal for the sake of metal phone.
Same goee for redmi 3s and mi max as both share same build as RN3.
Yesterday i go the lamination shop to apply Matt lamination on back of redmi 3s. As you all guys know they use rubber to apply pressure to stick the lamination on phone surface. He did same on power and volume buttons also. Now problem is due to that little pressure, those both buttons pushed inside a bit (yeah build is that cheap) and they are not tactile as new one.
Same case with my friend with RN3 , using transparent case from 4 months. Now i checked his phone. His phone’s power and volume buttons are literally more inside than mine.
I don’t know how could mi used such cheap quality on the such awesome device.
People who have doubts can try on their phone themselves , put pressure on both buttons for a 2-3 minutes or go to lamination shop and you’ll see when he wil apply pressure from rubber the buttons will pushed inside a bit.
This is 100% reproducible problem.
Try and tell here.
First: never get your phone laminated. Reason: it doesn’t help the heat to pass through and you will incur more problems in future with the phone. This is not 2010 to get your phone laminated, get a tempered glass to cover your screen.
For buttons: they are plastic and not metal and they are prone to tear and wear depending upon your usage. It’s not with RN3 but with every phone including iPhone. My iPhone 6S+ home button stopped working in less than 6 months and had to visit Apple care to get it repaced.
Solution: get a cover which has inbuilt button. Example? IPaky case for your RN3. It will help you save the button’s life. I’m using it from the day RN3 was launched and I can call myself power user and careless with phs, I havn’t faced the issue till now.
First of all, the lamination is matt and on the back of the device not front, as it is metal it’s necessary to have back matt lamination. And it doesn’t cause any problem in heating. And this isssue is not about wear and tear bro . It’s the build issue. I have also used VR box and put my phone inside the tray which pressed tge volume and power button to adjust. In other normal phones it’ll not affect the buttons at all ,but on my phone it surely did.
I’m no new noob in smartphone have used many smartphones , so i now what i am talking about.
If you think i am not saying truth. You can try it yourself.
Put pressure on both buttons and keep holding them for 2-3 min. And BAM ! They will not be normal again. Or just go to the lamination shop and ask the guy to put pressure on the buttons with his rubber. You’ll get same results as mine and I’m sure this will not affect other smartphones at all you bring any othet phone with you for testing the same and compare with RN3.I’m literally crying for such minor but major issue. And even if it’s plastic it doesn’t matter as problem reside in the inside.
who uses lamination in this new generation 😶 i use to get lamination on nokia phons in 2005-06. Lamination makes cellphone looks cheap.
Lamination on the back cover to protect it from scratches as even in the cover there is dust which could easily scratch the metal. And yes it is matt not glossy. With matt you don’t even know there is a lamination.
Dude seriously don’t do tht. From where the heat will pass when you play games and stuff. It’s not that soft to grab scratches easily. Get a decent cover which doesn’t let the dust come in. Plenty of good cases available. That’s the best advice. Rest is upto you.
Haha bro i don’t play games at all i played few earlier and and there is no problem of heating. I’m confirming it. Heating will arise if you don’t put phone in open, like charging it out kept it under pillow like that. Rest no problem.
Just this irritating problem of buttons. I’m so feeling bad due to it and I’m sating true. I could have shown and prove to you if we were in same city. People are using cases so they don’t realize it. Once they will remove cover and experience button again they will know it’s not same before.
Maybe the problem is with the user and not the equipment, i know couple of friends, who really press the button hard and have faced similar issues in any phone they have used. Guess it’s individual based issue or probably quality control in the phone and you got one that has a issue. Else we would have lot of posts and threads on this on MI forums. Head over there see if anything is there and what they recommend. Personally i am using Redmi Note 3 from over 4 months and have not faced any issues till now. Also the first lot of phone had some issues. There were few posts on the same. Don’t want to diverge from topic as this is a Redmi 3S thread.
Flipkart has really stepped up their service locally. Placed order for a phone yesterday at 12 PM and it was in my hand at 11 Am in the morning. Really happy with the free delivery and i am not a Flipkart Advantage customer. Planning to buy 16 gb Redmi 3S. Waiting for some reviews of the same.
I don’t want this turn into a argument so i have just simple step to check if it’s individual based or not.1) go to lamination shop.
2) ask the owner to put pressure through rubber on the power and volume buttons side like normally he does when installing lamination on every phone throughout his entire life.
3) check the buttons.Report here. If it didn’t cause any problems. Good. Already request for refund on flipkart for redmi 3s and waiting for refund.
And I’m a not a innocent smartphone newbie. I know what’s too much pressure what’s normal pressure. I don’t care how many threads it has or not. Problem is a problem.
There is no argument, just a healthy discussion also probably you are the 1 in 1000 who would get it laminated. I have not seen any post here from any user, who would have got it laminated. So guess, they would never come across this issue. Most of the users here post buying the Note 3 bought the Ipaky case, i also did and post which we are using the phone in the case. I also feel they would not be any warranty for the buttons issue. If there is it would be interesting to find out what the stand of the service center is in terms of coverage for that. As if you are facing the issue, guess you should take it in. But they would remove the lamination and then check the same. Also i do not know what their stand is as they may say damage is caused due to lamination of phone or the person laminating the same. It’s a tricky situation. But if its really a big issue do take the phone to service center for examination and do share the outcome and findings as it would be a learning opportunity for all of us.

Simple solution, raise a request for return and replacement from Flipkart. They will do the needful, pick the faulty phone and ship a replacement brand new phone.
i factory reseted/formated my phone after that problem solved .but some time very rarely i got error when capturing image ‘’camera error’’’’cant connect to camera’’ but very rarely
I am using this mobile,no problems,great battery,decent camera,IR blaster,I am well impressed
camera quality bhi best hai rn3 se better check this

1. 2 Chargers and a USB cable stopped working within 6 months.
2. Problems with charging port and power button.
3. Mi4i camera stopped working in 8 months. Sent it for warranty repair to their main repair hub in Ahmadabad since I had read the horror stories of unavailability of spares in local service centers. They replied with a 7500 bill. I refused and had it sent back unrepaired because it’s silly to pay that much to fix a camera.
When I got it back, I found out that the touch wasn’t working. I showed it to a local repair shop who told me that the LCD/digitizer contact was broken. I was seething at this moment and lodged a complaint to Mi on the day I got the phone back. Didn’t get any response to it, so lodged another after 5 days. Then they told me there was no record of my initial complaint and they can’t do anything because few days had passed and they couldn’t be sure that I didn’t do the damage myself. At this moment I decided not to give Mi any further business. I’d have moved to consumer court if I had the time and energy.

well, i am very satisfied with my Mi4i.. had bought it during last deepavali sale for just 8500 (after 15% cb).. have not faced any issues till date.
other than that:
redmi 1s: still going strong.. have given it to my sister.. battery is a bit weak (rather inadequate) now.. no HW issues.
Mi Note 3g: was using it before this Mi4i.. another good phone for 8999.. but had a motherboard problem.. was replaced within warranty in like 10 days time… bought Mi4i coz this one failed.. played with multiple ROMs and then gave it for service..
my cousin has a Mi3 and he is pretty pleased with it.. he got bored of it and bought a new Op2/3 recently..
my bil has a Mi4 and he likes to use it over his other Samsung phone for its call clarity, handiness, etc
in general these MI phones are value for money..
my only grouse – i don’t like the Miui interface.. so always replace the launcher.
According to figures released this week by research firm IDC, Xiaomi saw sales of its smartphones drop by almost 40% in China during the second quarter of 2016 when compared to the same period in 2015. The overall Chinese market grew during the same period by 4.6% and while Apple suffered a similarly large drop in sales, Xiaomis real competitors in the mid-to-low end of the market — Huawei, Oppo and Vivo — all saw significant growth.
In the 12 months following its record-breaking valuation, Xiaomi missed smartphone sales targets — twice — as well as revenue targets. According to analyst Richard Windsor revenues could drop a further 10-20% in 2016 to give Xiaomi a valuation of just $3.6 billion.
