That’s a tempting price. I was expecting the 32GB/3GB model to be priced around 14-15k. Xiaomi has got the pricing part right.
I have to admit that i’m considering replacing my Mi3 with Redmi note 3. Even though my mi3 is almost 2 years now but the performance is still excellent. Someone please convince me to upgrade

I’m in the same boat. MI3 is a beast of a device. Even battery performance improved after MIUI 7 upgrade.:-P

Unfortunately even Samsung isn’t immune to criticism, their bloatware was rightfully blasted in the past, so far as software is concerned. The only remedy is to get a custom ROM &/or governor for better utilization of the SoC, this is true for every OEM out there. So far as overheating is concerned, I previously mentioned that the latest Galaxy A9 is being positively received & it has 4 A72 cores therefore the Note 3, with 2 A72 cores, should not have much of a problem in this regard.
Custom rom? Xiaomi phones? What world are you living in? I had Mi3 and Mi4 and I remember Xiaomi took an year+ to release kernel sources. Now, they are locking bootloaders and unlocking through Xiaomi Chinese site is not that easy. May be you should Google about it. I hate when anyone suggest me custom roms to rescue blindly without even checking the developer support of that ‘brand’.
Please don’t tell me about custom roms and kernels as in my youth life, I used to develop lot of roms and kernels for most of the phones including Samsung. Now, I don’t even waste time as I prefer stock Android thats why bought 6P and for my work I use 6S Plus. Developing for brands who release the sources the day the update is released is what I prefer instead of tinkering everyday to fix bugs. Most of the non techies who will buy Xioami phs wouldn’t even bother to know what is root. Xiaomi prefers to keep the sources closed or release sources after a long time so that people stick to MIUI.
Heating issue can only be tested when we get phones in our hands. There are a lot of factors to consider for heating, not just the soc, it also depends on software as in how efficiently the OS developed for the phone, kernel governors etc use the cores.

You’re the one that brought up the software issue in the mix, all I did was point out that any OEM which doesn’t employ stock Android OS is facing this issue, everyone including Samsung.
As for overheating, you don’t have to tell me what causes that, I’ve been building my own custom PC’s since the early teens. I know more about this issue than 99% of people on this forum. Take two phones, heck bare chips, they won’t have the same characteristics ever, even if they have the exact some components made at the same time on this earth & that’s how it is. I already outlined that heating is a function of many factors & software is just the last one & btw the software (default OS) that you run on these phones is the only thing exactly the same in all of them, everything else is different, that’s how electronic components are
Bhai @rv2012 glad to hear that u 2 developed roms. I have been an ardent android supporter. Not developed custom roms but developed certain utilities and zips for my n4 and n5,n7 2012 and I was ardent nexus fan and maybe I’m still. But at a point of time in your life i have left doing the stuff like u did. Yes till 2 years back buying a nexus made a point it wasn’t expensive and had great hardware for the price since non nexus manufacturers were few and charged a high premium. Nexus 4 incidentally I bought it too was one of the cheapest device with high end performance in the price of the mid range at the time. I can even Google you out some pages which prove that Google hardly made profit on those phones. When launched if memory serves me right n4 was selling at 299 dollars and the same phone was sold by LG in Spain at 540 or 570 dollars. Some reports even pointed that Google was selling these phones at cost or even less and depending on play store and subscriptions.
Now the scenario has changed a lot. These devices are super efficient high powered almost the best in class and at prices which put the 5x to shame. I know that 5x is still better because of vanilla android, cam and even daily performance ( may be saying equal is opt) but still if u get a product at 1/2 the cost u have to look at a few downsides. Yes Xiaomi will release the code maybe 1 year down the line, we need to wait for a month for the unlock code but in all this is a trade off which one has too take. Nexus community is by far the best but 2 years down the line when ur phone starts to age and people move to new devices even having the fastest device leaves u with desiring for new stuff. Like I miss 4g, good cam, even battery was a concern.
And Samsung knox, HTC s-off, moto and Sony code locking though much more friendly than Xiaomi all are locking up the bootloaders difference being some easier to unlock than others.
At the end of the day it’s value analysis for urself. U may find more value in a 5x than I in a note 3.
And yes root has been achieved on note3 snappy version on locked bootloader. Good night dimers

+1 to the original post…once u experience stock android…nothing else can compare. I have a redmi 1s which has great hardware but ruined by crappy software. That is the sole reason I am never gonna buy another Xiaomi phone ever. Hardware specs are meaningless without a good ROM. MIUI is buggy and outdated and most of the custom ROM’s are not stable enough for daily use. Xiaomi would be smart to realize they can’t keep pace with Google, release stock android ROMs for its phones in addition to MIUI and give users the option to switch.
PS: no gorilla glass

U know things are not always rosy the other side.lemme tell u some disadvantages i think of rn3: 1.le 1s has 0-100 % charging in around 1 hour while RN3 take 2 and 1/2 hrs. 2.Speakers of Le 1s is better than Note 3. 3. Fingerprint sensor takes .6 sec(GSM arena) in Note 3 while 1s in Le so not a whole lot of diff. 4.hybrid sim slot in Redmi note 3 so all cheerleaders of dual sim and expandable memory are now quiet.Rear Camera of Redmi note 3 hasn’t got a gr8 appreciation in Gsmarena review. So not a whole lot of cons with LE 1s except maybe the processor .

Touchwood that the device hasn’t have many problems. But if u ask me there are apart from software some issues which are a bit common on letv 1s. I searched the whole letv forums and found a few but important hardware issues with it
1) screen really fragile
2) back button automatically pressing. I feel the heat makes it dance or a manu defect
3) speakers go broke ( don’t know a software bug or hardware related)
Ps: none of the problems have been made up by me. Go to forums of letv and scroll through it and u will get all what I said above. Again not all apples are bad and even as such not all pieces are bad

For first, vertical drop was the reason for most of screen breakage, horizontal drops didn’t do it any harm. Second,I haven’t had this kinda issue. and lastly speakers is what the Le 1s has got right (perfect placement, loudness, clarity etc and so on).
Yes With le 1s ,I think people had unreasonable high hopes and along with unpolished eui etc, it has now made a negative aura around em. Redmi note 3 should be the new mid-budget king now but given Mi stocks 30-40k units per sale otherwise someone else will seize the opp.

The main Cons that i have observed while using are
1). Poor Battery
2). Heating Issues
Battery is so poor that while just using whatsapp and browsing for around 1.5 hours, the battery came down from 100% to around 30%. Main reason might be Letv software EUI as Ram optimisation is not good and while using certain apps it just heats up a lot(even with Whatsapp). I have ditched the default launcher and using Google Now Launcher. I haven’t seen any other issues apart from this. Also i have installed only bare minimum apps required for daily routine.

OK
Yes, I am more curious about Redmi 3 (The successor of Redmi 2). It was launched in China, but still now there was no word on India launch.
Same here. Looking forward for Redmi 3, hoping it comes sooner than later.
Really superb features at that price range…. snapdragon 616 octacore. Redmi 3 will kill every other phone on market if it is price below 7000.
I will wait for 2-3 months, some sale would come and its price would go lower
16 MP camera in 10000/-
