and regarding redmi note 3, its not possible to say if the device doesnt lag after 1 or 2 years
Yeah if you decide to stay on the same OS version and tends to use same set of apps n games, there shouldnt be any problem
And also i dont think any device with specs onpar with redmi note 3 would be priced below 10k
we can expect Mi4/Mi4i though below 9k very soon
And if you are looking for a camera device then redmi note 3 isnt the right choice. It struggles a bit under certain lighting conditions but better than Le 1s
I think will be a perfect choice if you want a device for 2 years if u can invest few more bucks
@getready I know that but did not want to create a scene,so..
Okay, suggest a android phone which doesn’t lag, within 20k. No new apps to try in windows, basically I need productivity apps. The apps which are there are not that useful. So I need a android phone but can’t compromise on the lagging issues. I used that Honor Bee for few days and understood can’t go for 1 GB RAM.
Regarding not using custom ROM’s the possibility of bricking the phone makes.me not to try that, (I soft-bricked my first Lenovo phone).
Edit: Happy with my Lumia 730 camera

Bhai @rv2012 glad to hear that u 2 developed roms. I have been an ardent android supporter. Not developed custom roms but developed certain utilities and zips for my n4 and n5,n7 2012 and I was ardent nexus fan and maybe I’m still. But at a point of time in your life i have left doing the stuff like u did. Yes till 2 years back buying a nexus made a point it wasn’t expensive and had great hardware for the price since non nexus manufacturers were few and charged a high premium. Nexus 4 incidentally I bought it too was one of the cheapest device with high end performance in the price of the mid range at the time. I can even Google you out some pages which prove that Google hardly made profit on those phones. When launched if memory serves me right n4 was selling at 299 dollars and the same phone was sold by LG in Spain at 540 or 570 dollars. Some reports even pointed that Google was selling these phones at cost or even less and depending on play store and subscriptions.
Now the scenario has changed a lot. These devices are super efficient high powered almost the best in class and at prices which put the 5x to shame. I know that 5x is still better because of vanilla android, cam and even daily performance ( may be saying equal is opt) but still if u get a product at 1/2 the cost u have to look at a few downsides. Yes Xiaomi will release the code maybe 1 year down the line, we need to wait for a month for the unlock code but in all this is a trade off which one has too take. Nexus community is by far the best but 2 years down the line when ur phone starts to age and people move to new devices even having the fastest device leaves u with desiring for new stuff. Like I miss 4g, good cam, even battery was a concern.
And Samsung knox, HTC s-off, moto and Sony code locking though much more friendly than Xiaomi all are locking up the bootloaders difference being some easier to unlock than others.
At the end of the day it’s value analysis for urself. U may find more value in a 5x than I in a note 3.
And yes root has been achieved on note3 snappy version on locked bootloader. Good night dimers
I’m not sure what you judged from my previous reply, but to let you know I’ll be buying RedMi Note 3. Heck I try almost every device available in the market either through my own money or through friends and offcourse from review units.

That’s a tempting price. I was expecting the 32GB/3GB model to be priced around 14-15k. Xiaomi has got the pricing part right.
I have to admit that i’m considering replacing my Mi3 with Redmi note 3. Even though my mi3 is almost 2 years now but the performance is still excellent. Someone please convince me to upgrade
1. 100% more memory.
2. 50% more RAM.
3. Double SIM Slot.
4. 4G
5. VoLTE
6. 33% more battery
7. Improved Back Camera
8. Improved Front Camera
9. Better processor ( ? )
10. Metallic Body
11. Bucket loads of cash in the pocket.Edit – How did I forget the Fingerprint. And that too, one with useful features. App unlocking, selfie taking, etc.
does it support VoLTE? or just LTE?
The overall camera quality on the Redmi Note 3 isn’t great and possibly the weakest aspect of the phone
The Redmi Note 3 has first generation Quick Charge that supports chargers up to 5V 2A. The phone took about an hour to reach 50% battery from 1% and about two and a half hours to reach 100% from 1%

still not a deal breaker. Redmi note 3 has all going for it. 1-100% in 2.5 hours is still respectable for a 4000mah battery. Just think of the backup time too rather than charging time.
Low light performance of camera is poor in almost all devices under 15k range. Anyways, one shouldn’t be buying the budget performers just for the camera. Though it is a plus point if its good.

I know it’s not fair to compare two devices, especially when one costs almost half of the other. But I am more keen on waiting for Mi5 than to get Redmi Note 3. With the similar pricing strategy the base version of Mi5 might cost 20k or 21k at most and seems like a much better buy

if camera is imp for you, then you should definitely go for mi5 because it has many firsts in camera features. 4-d image stabilization and what not

Yeah, I hope it converts into real life performance too. I was amazed by the sample pics shown in yesterday’s launch event for redmi note 3 but the reviews suggest otherwise.

Any android device which doesn’t hang and lag (even after 1-2 years) ?
P.S. I don’t want custom ROM
CC: @$hubham @getready @PaytmKaPoojari @cybertechie (Don’t need from all of you anyone would do)
That’s hard to say, it depends a lot on the progression of software i.e. Android OS. However as I’ve repeatedly said, the (MI)UI in this case is the last on your list of problems. You always go with competent hardware, first & foremost, & then looking at software makes sense. Remember you cannot change hardware on a phone, the OS can be modified though.
Now coming back to your query, the pace of ARM development has slowed down massively & will get even slower, the same goes with Android. The next gen of SoC on 10nm, as 14nm was already launched last year, will hit shelves in 2018 at the earliest & that too for flagship phones. The mid & low priced phone (SoC) will not goto 10nm before 2019~20 however with the Snapdragon 625 & Mediatek P20 launching later in the year, on 14nm, you’ll get a better idea of what or how much can a mobile SoC improve, on all fronts without requiring a change in uarch. Basically what I’m saying is that the pace of growth in this sector was tremendous, IMO twice of what was seen in the desktop space 10 years ago, & so will the slowdown be just as quick. The real game changer these days will be low level API’s like Vulkan, supported by Adreno 5xx GPU, which will keep your phones much better for a longer period of time.
Bottom line → this is the best you’ll get currently, for at least 6 months, otherwise wait a whole year (or more) if you want better performance since I don’t see any major uarch changes coming to ARM anytime soon

There is no device which doesn’t lag even the top end devices lag.
Thanks to MI for launching this phone at such an unbelievably price and with an upgrade.
If by chance someone gets it into their cart on 9th and not going to order then please pass on to me.

I am here to comment about MIUI. Xioami has done a spectacular job on MIUI 7 & though I use stock android on my moto X, nothing can beat MIUI 7 as far as my user experience goes. Tons of optimizations, Good options for personalisation, best camera performance in any given budget range, minimum bloatware & option to remove all battery hungry google apps, buttery smooth performance & excellent battery life make my xioami phone worth of money. In addition, help is always available for any problem on MIUI forums. So on any given day, if I am asked to purchase a new device, I will go for xioami than samsung or motorola

+1. I absolutely love MIUI build. I don’t know why some ppl are unhappy with it. If we use the stable roms, then there is no issue as such. My mi-3 freezed only 3-4 times in 1.5 years.
The battery life is what impressed me most. Even with the ageing, the screen on time actually improved with MIUI 7 update. I easily get 4+ hours regularly even now.

Offtopic question – My brother is using Redmi Prime 2 which after recent update, when we try to open camera app it is showing as “Cannot connect to camera” error.. Anyone know what might be the problem?? Tried with other third party apps, even then it is showing black screen where as front camera works fine. Any help is appreciated?
First step you should try is go to settings-apps-camera and clear app cache and data and restart your phone and see if it’s working.
