*The Centre on Friday made it mandatory for government and private sector employees to use Aarogya Setu mobile application to bolster the efforts to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, and entrusted the organisational heads with ensuring its 100 per cent coverage.
The Union Home Ministry also said the mobile app will be must for people living in COVID-19 containment zones.
“Use of Aarogya Setu app shall be made mandatory for all employees, both private and public. It shall be the responsibility of the head of the respective organisations to ensure 100% coverage of this app among the employees,” the ministry said.
The announcement came on a day the government extended the nationwide lockdown by two weeks from May 4 with certain relaxations. *
The mobile application helps users identify whether they are at risk of COVID-19 infection. It also provides people with important information, including ways to avoid coronavirus infection and its symptoms.

I think it’s made for your safety. If someone goes to hospital and tested positive then maybe his phone is kept updated as infected. And when that person roams around you or vice versa then you may get alerted and thereafter you might take some precautions.
Similarly there can be lots of scenarios which anyone can think of….

you can use Tik tok, UC browser and so many Chinese app which really track you & they have security issue but you can not support india made app Arogya Setu app which is not 100 % but some % beneficial for people.

UC Browser was good once upon a time (12+ years back)
This used to be my only browser back then (had best downloader too) but now it is shit full of spam content
The same reason why Google banned it from the playstore (now back again after fixing the anomalies…still unsure) and another rouge app ES File Explorer never made it to the Playstore again. If the so called apps are violating Playstore policies/terms then they deserve the shit treatment

I might be a noob here but what exactly is the use of Aarogya Setu app if one does not take the self assessment test with honesty?
It’s a surveillance app that stores your data in the cloud.
I’m not saying. As per developer ( certain data will be uploaded ).
It has nothing to do with coronovirus. My entire district has 1 coronovirus case. But the app shows 10-20 cases within 5km. It’s to make ppl sit in the house by showing random numbers.

1.Hoax app – made by the inspiration of androdi 
2. Totally of no use.
3. Made with the purpose of selling user data to some big corporate – think R or may be to the highest bidder.
Govt. is in such need of money.
4. Androdi should provide a free Bjdroid phone loaded with tracking, monitoring apps to everyone first.

While it is true that sharing such data is not a good idea all the time considering many possibilities. Also true that self assessment works only with help of supporting people, other miscreants may provide wrong info, experienced people can misuse location spoofing with rooted device to show wrong data in a particular area. Thats depend on mentality of people whether they just want to play with it for any reason or use it for helping others in this pandemic. Moreover any experienced developer can releases modded app too like there are many mods for Netflix, Prime Video, Hotstar Jio TV, etc
this privacy gaga applies on all the apps you have on smartphone including OS itself Android or iOS.
The permission asked by this app are Location sharing and bluetooth along with other basic details. Mostly people having smartphone give location permission to maps, ecom delivery sites like grofers/swiggy/zomato(compromised few years back), cab aggregators like ola/uber, chrome browser and others if those apps are needful and ask for location. You can skip this permission later but at time of need you need to allow that permission.
There are many zero day vulnerabilities which no one know expect the one who found it (thats how it named as zero day)
Android release patch only after knowing there is some bug/vulnerability same as vaccine comes out only after disease that too after months.

Also all E-Com sites have policy to share data with authorities in case of govt need it for security reasons.
all these incidents prove for a govt there is no need of you to install any other app for survillance and having smartphone even with internet connection/ location sharing off most of the time not gonna help.
If you are really concerned for privacy so deeply, then either have a basic phone (even that is not secure 100%) or just get a pc and open only dive in deep web. That too not by ISP (Broadband or JIO) which you subscribed by giving your own KYC details.
But mostly people gone crazy on it use apps like UC Browser, TikTok, update FB/Wsap status daily with location, share their travel history on social media sites along with family pics. Should i tell you how all this data can be misused against you with just deep-fake shit. Even without these details the normal social media use can reveal many things for a person.
Leave the hitech vulnerabilities people even assume pay request on UPI as money received and confirm it by using pass code lol.

However mandatory part can be logical from govt point of view but then they should assure people on privacy because tnc says otherwise. However you don’t need app if you opting for home delivery for grocery or medicine shopping.
