Aarogya Setu mandatory for govt, pvt employees

*The Centre on Friday made it mandatory for government and private sector employees to use Aarogya Setu mobile application to bolster the efforts to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, and entrusted the organisational heads with ensuring its 100 per cent coverage.

The Union Home Ministry also said the mobile app will be must for people living in COVID-19 containment zones.

“Use of Aarogya Setu app shall be made mandatory for all employees, both private and public. It shall be the responsibility of the head of the respective organisations to ensure 100% coverage of this app among the employees,” the ministry said.

The announcement came on a day the government extended the nationwide lockdown by two weeks from May 4 with certain relaxations. *

The mobile application helps users identify whether they are at risk of COVID-19 infection. It also provides people with important information, including ways to avoid coronavirus infection and its symptoms.

I have few queries:
If the user gives wrong info deliberately (like not suffering with the disease symptoms), how the App is going to help the others?

I think it’s made for your safety. If someone goes to hospital and tested positive then maybe his phone is kept updated as infected. And when that person roams around you or vice versa then you may get alerted and thereafter you might take some precautions.
Similarly there can be lots of scenarios which anyone can think of….

PS. Assuming the functionality of app is correct!

A Corona positive patient will not give wrong info because it doesn’t make sense why will be even bother downloading the app.

And if a Corona negative gives wrong info then I am pretty sure, he will be contacted by the authorities which will take out the truth from him.

Sadly mobile phones have still not evolved enough to test if a patient has Corona or not ,it trusts on its users to feed in correct information.

This app is just based on database. I don’t think hospital will force infected person to update in app. it’s just up to users. Also, many user will think updating detail will help only others who installed and not going to help himself so very less chance that infected will update
also yaar itna tension hoga infection ke baad ki kaun update karne jayega

also this app may need to keep location and gps ON, otherwise idk how it will work. If yes then it may consume more mobile battery

agreed with 1st part- only possibility if he will not update anything

And the infected person might be disabling all the permissions to app. Can’t they uninstall the app too?

must be buggy. Bluetooth has very low range, not useful.

Never installed but will check

Happening for everyone
Looks like some kinda conspiracy :toungueout:
I haven’t even accepted their privacy policy related to device location, Bluetooth & data sharing and yet the app is force switching my phone’s bluetooth ON even with zero granted permissions! https://cdn0.desidime.com/attachments/photos/615248/original/Screenshot_20200502-123150.jpg?1588402943

I think they don’t follow the Play Store rules properly disclosing the permissions.

Because Access to Bluetooth is key for the app to establish close range proximity between two people. When two smartphones with Aarogya Setu installed come in each other’s Bluetooth range the app will collect information. If one of the two people have already tested positive, the app will alert the other person and in the process allow the government to trace potential cases.
Not only India several other country have launched similar bluetooth based app
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/COVID-1...ps
Recently Australia launched ‘Covidsafe’ app with same bluetooth working.

The only way I’m installing is if they implement the API of Apple-Google way of tracing (which is not released yet)

Different Bluetooth version have different range, signal streanah, I might get a better Bluetooth signal in 5.1 being far off, when not even in contact with other person. did they consider that?
