Recently I was trying to open my Airtel payments bank account from the app but it was showing that they are not able to complete my KYC, so I need to do physical KYC from Airtel store.

I visited the Airtel store of my city, told them to do my kyc and they said that to do so, I need to pay Rs 250 which will I get back from next month.

Each month I'll get 20 Rs in my account for 12 months.

Which means in total, I'll get back 240 Rs after 12 months.

I want to know, that is this charge valid or they're charging me extra?

₹100 will go to your airtel account and rest will go to employee or person through whom ur completing KYC. Its same for everyone. Even if you complaint to Airtel about this they will also ask you to pay whatever that person asks for. some charge ₹150 and some charge ₹200.₹250 is bit more.

And that each month you will get ₹20 is totally false. Instead airtel will charge ₹₹15,₹10,₹20  and such small amounts every 3-6 months as sms charges, statement charges ,etc

Try jio payments bank. Not much benefits but still good for normal transactions.

They have been running this scam since the launch of payments back, you won't get anything.

It is a lie. In order to get Rs.20 per month, you will be asked to do some transactions worth 2k each month using their debit card. Debit card itself is not free. Even the virtual card is not free. There are multiple charges. So, be careful in opening the savings account.

I have the savings account. I have Airtel number, Airtel Axis CC and use Rs.999 recharge that activates a particular plan in savings account to make it almost free except SMS charges. So far, I use it within free limits (10 free SMS). So, no charges for me. I can't say the same for everyone.

Avoid it if you can. There are better digital savings account such as NSDL Payments Bank (charges apply but has more benefits). Ujjivan SFB savings bank is mostly free too. Why would you want an SB account with Airtel?
