Postpaid plans are a trap, just like credit card debts. Telcos want you to commit a mistake & then charge you exorbitantly.

Generally, less than 10% users are postpaid ones.

This may no longer be true at present. Airtel prepaid 1.5 GB/day now costs 299/28 days. If a family of 4 takes 999 family postpaid, incl GST the per SIM cost for 28 days work out to 272. Plus the advantage of sharing of data and unused data rollover.

Also, airtel do not change the postpaid plans of their users even if the plan is increased later for new customers. I am still using having one old 799 family plan with 3 SIMs and 140 GB shared data per mth, the per SIM cost comes to 217/28 days incl gst. For prepaid, every time there is a rate increase, once must pay higher price.

Good share. @panchabhut
But better only till subscriptions are there.

1. ✅

2. 🆗🆗

3. ✅

4. Only one time, then can't avail AGAIN.

5. warning

6. Don't switch from prepaid to postpaid if the circle/area doesn't come under postpaid as it'll not allow you to change PLAN for next 90 days

Airtel Xstream with 1 OTT & Wink benefits will continue as long as plan is active. Rest are 1 time. Switch through app is for existing postpaid users.

Activating Lionsgate seems to be most VFM as other OTT are easily available. Wink is not of much use except may be the free caller tune.

Old user - yes. But never tried to port out. It was a regular plan at that time. And as per their standard practice, they do not change plans of old users by themselves.

They are having different plans for NCR?

I can see 999 (4 SIM/100 GB base), 1199 (4 SIM/150 GB base) & 1499 (5 SIM/200 GB base) as currently available but no 1399 plan.

I don't remember exactly. There was a plan of 999 family infinity before with 250gb data 1+ 3 add on sim and 1 data sim for free also.
They increased that plan to somewhere around 1300-1400. And additional i think 200 for data sim also required later.

It's 150 gb not 250. Old ₹999 plan recently increased to ₹1199 which offers the same benefits

That was 150 GB plan with one data SIM (1+3+1). They increased it to 1199 (1+3) without the data SIM. But then they re-introduced 999 plan with 100 GB & 4 SIM (1+3). In last 10 years, that was the only time to my knowledge Airtel changed a postpaid plan at their level. All other older plans are continuing.

True that it might be cheaper in monthly costs with rollover facility. But there are incidental charges linked with postpaid - late bill penalty, extra data charges.

It's a tradeoff b/w peace of mind & minor savings.

Don't know abt airtel costs, but Jio's prepaid plan costs are almost same as that you have quoted.

749 for 90d (2 GB/d) - 233 / 28d
666 for 84d (1.5 Gb/d) - 222 / 28d
2999 for 388 d (2.5 Gb/d) - 216 / 28d

The main difference is in data. For prepaid, there is daily data limit. 2 GB/day is not the same as 60 GB/mth. Even if you have not used any data for 5 days, you cannot use 10 GB on the 6th day. But with postpaid, that is possible. Also, in a family plan, the data is shared. So the teen aged son can end up using 60% of the family share while the grandma may not be using any data, all without affecting the total family cost.

And if you have Airtel Axis Credit card, then the cost becomes further less by 25%. Of course, we do not know how long this will last.
