Amazon not giving refund

My friend ordered many products from different category from amazon.8-10 products were clothing item from amazon own brand.he returned one clothing item because the color was totally different from photo shown on website.he returned it himself through website.he wanted to get replacement but only refund option was showing.the tags and packet were there on it as it was received. the delivery person picked it up 10 days ago. he checked it completely before picking it up. no refund got credited. customer care kept on saying to wait for 1-2 days. today they said that different item received so no refund. he kept on saying that he received different tshirt from amazon brand only but they did not listen.finally they said that they tell concerned team to look into matter.his account is used by his family to order many items per month. normal returns or exchange in a month.
his mistakes 1.he created return himself.he should have called them, they would have asked for photos and then there would have been no issues later. 2. he got an electric grill replaced last week as the delivered one was broken. as it is high value item so maybe they are doing this.
delivery persons here are also not trustworthy. in the whole state i have seen people giving them products and later refund getting stuck because amazon will reply different product was sent. as it is clothing item so he did not take any photo of same tshirt before sending it back.he has returned or replaced different clothing item in the past also but never faced such issue.
what is to be done now?

1. Even if you create a return request it really won’t matter. I’ve returned/replaced so many products online but haven’t faced any such issue.
2. This may differ from city to city because i haven’t heard any such scenarios in Mumbai….

Few dimers even know Amazon escalation email-ids and they will probably help you to resolve your issue pretty soon.

Always take photos of any product you plan on returning when it was bought online. Now you can only hope for the best.

Did you mention in the return reason that the product is different from website? and the next sub reason like below.

Either hub or delivery person has a hand 

If via cc raise a charge back  otherwise tag on twitter along with their  ganja jeff 

These companies cant stand negative reviews

On phone you generally get team leads to talk (not the lower level ignorant/clueless agents). Or you can directly tell the agent to connect to his/her lead. They will keep blabbering that lead will also say the same thing, you also keep blabbering that connect to your lead. If they are super adamant, disconnect and try again. When they connect to the lead, tell him the entire story and tell him to check the return request where you have specifically mentioned that item received was different than ordered.

While handing over the item, indulge in small talk like “are you xyz, right?”, “this item will go where now?”, “do I get any confirmation receipt,OTP,etc?”
This on camera chitchat also helps in keeping these guys from trying something nefarious.

I too lost money on 2 items this year , one item was delivered broken and another time, a candle was send instead of a premium kitchen knife.

They don’t even care about pictures and don’t even want to see unboxing videos, I wanted to send unboxing videos but they said no need.

I had to fight hard for an expired cashew nuts packets received too. I cancelled all my subscriptions.

Just look at seller reviews, even fulfilled by Amazon ones, complains are on the rise. Amazon India team is now full of frauds, I hardly had any problems with Amazon since 2013 till 2020, only had 3 minor problems out of 1000+ orders.

But the experience worsen after 2021. Now it’s like gambling.

Won’t they get offended? I think the local delivery guy atleast in my area aren’t the frauds but someone either in packaging or in the middle of transportation.

Hope they too understand and not feel bad.
