Although Axis readily issues a credit card by creating a lien on a term deposit made, I would rather suggest to let them live their life peacefully (as far as possible).

Unless your parents travel more than two three times a year and need lounge access, such pennies saved here and there (via cashbacks, offers) at the of heartburn (due to chasing thousand other things), besides one more thing to care for during (tax returns) filing .. are all avoidable hassles (in my view).

(Based on the existing relationship with Axis, say card against term-deposit, have seen Airtel-Axis card getting issued.)

Maybe he is a savvy person, despite being employed by the government, so I am not being judgemental here.

Might be op will use that card, just applying on father's name to save his limit of having maximum 3 cards.

If he has a pension and less than 65, the chances are high.

Just apply online or through a bank agent.

Better approach the bank he has the pension account. There is high chance of getting.
