are you still close to your traditional beliefs regarding festivals in festive season or you see yourself evolved?

No matter what religion you belong to, the question is "are you still following your religion beliefs now a days? or you got evolved.

Because what I observed in PITRA PAKSHA days, people were whole heartedly buying from ECOM websites.

As per traditional beliefs in NORTH side INDIA (don't know about other sides) people used to defer purchasing of new articles.

Give your observations to the discussion wisely.

Leave things that are harmful in the past, evolve and accept things that bring joy.

I believe it's essential to respect and understand traditional beliefs and customs, especially during festive seasons. However, I also think it's important to evolve and adapt with time, embracing new perspectives and approaches while still cherishing our cultural heritage. It's like the Ayat al-Kursi in the Quran, which emphasizes the importance of seeking protection and guidance from a higher power while navigating life's journey. By integrating both tradition and evolution, we can enrich our celebrations and deepen our connection to our roots while embracing progress and growth

Nope, not close this side!

Was not ever really too closely ingrained anyway.
Thankfully, neither the super elders (grand mothers) nor the elders 'imposed' such cultural aspects or 'personal beliefs systems'.

Obviously basic stuff, in formative years, DID get inculcated.
But, like you mentioned, the terms of reference/context of 'evolution' has changed, for me at-least.

(merely my personal beliefs only) I have 'evolved' to believe that just like most large software, we too/ any species has.. gradually metamorphosised and evolved to be where it is.
We are not some (release to manufacture) RTM update or version created out of nowhere. (Which is how theology has us believe.)

So yes, while I might stick with 'norms' (some of which are deep seated in memory, since early childhood), I want myself to believe that it is out of respect to those elders and as per habit... and not necessarily due to any theological beliefs.
For example, if our (now departed) 👵🏻DadiMaa🙇🏻‍♂️, 👵🏻NaniMaa🙇🏻‍♂️, impressed upon us that:
🐄gaay 🐕‍🦺kuttey ki roti banana aur dena, 🐜kaali chintiyon🐜 ko aata (whole-wheat flour) dena, evening (shaam) ko potable water ke paas/kitchen mein diya jalana, xyz days ko yellow/ kesariya vastra pehan na, xyz tithi ko chaanwal nahin khana, bahaar jaatey samay kisi ko 'kahaan ja rahe ho" keh kar nahin tokna, susu (urination) baith kar karna, bhojan ekaant mein karna, bhojan baith kar karna.. and so on..
then yes, on and off or so fair as possible., feasible... i (personally) tried to keep up.
But if only buffet meals are there or while grabbing a quick meal at the station, while getting late for professional meeting/office l, then obviously removing footwear (especially shoes) might not be practical and compromises or 'norm' breaking has been done by me.

To your original point too, I kept myself from starting/initiating any 'shubh' kaarya on any Shaniwaar/Saturday.. for many years.

Then sometimes floundered, as many professional things.. one cannot suddenly choose to desist from doing just because it is a Saturday.

Without calling either of them a 'good' habit or a 'bad' habit...
yes, 'habit' changed and I often found myself doing impulsive (off-line) purchases if even formalwear garments or new items on a Saturday.
And after internet happened and Rediff happened, baazee.com happened this (trend of impulsive buying) shifted to on-line shopping too.

On multiple occasions did colleagues, acquaintances, cousins pointed out or gave concerned advisories that 'doosrey ke joote, chappal pehan ne se' (wearing someone else's footwear) cause bad omen/ Shani 'dasha' or that shopping on Saturdays for new and/or important things too is an invitation to bad omens.

So yes, on and off (but never per se with theology in my mind) I tried to not go out on weekends and not even browse on-line shopping portals on Saturdays.. lest I end up getting sucked in and order something.

Obviously I still openly mock and even absorbed many in my own close circles who try to come up with technical bypass solutions to older rituals/ beliefs.

Like once I was with a Jewish colleague-friend and both my hands were occupied carrying stuff.
But it was a weekend and we entered an elevator a lift.
And she goes, Hasbro bro, you press the floor selection panel.
And i was like dafaq is wrong!
And she is like.. the Torah said no fire use on weekend/ during Shabbat.
[The logic/ evolved logic (after hundreds of years) being that electricity is like fire.]
And I could not help but call-her-out and even chide her.
That hey ____ you are still using the same lift, even if I select the floor.
And you do eat cooked food, even during the outage (late Friday onwards, I think).

Having said all that, HasdaChehra If you, I, anyone else claims to be pious or believes themselves to be so.. then I could not help but laugh (at them).. sometimes even to their face.

I conveniently claim that I do NOT follow or ascribe to ANY particular theology, while still being a 'deist' tyoe of person.

But generally, it is just a charade (that) we all 'choose' to live in.

Multiple times a day, 🐓imbeciles keep recollecting and mentioning names of on-screen CSWs (pornographic content creators) and still have the gall to ask about "the name of the bhajan and singer", thereby claiming t9 be in the fold of XYZ theology.
[At-least in my eyes, it is a sham, to be just as happy consuming pornography and then ..also claiming to be 'proud' followers (of respective theologies).]

By the way, good👍🏻 discussion (/debate) topic, ਹਸਦਾChehra🙂.

'Following' the thread, since DesiDime spams the registered e-mail addresses even after suspending an account.
Would continue to get notified of movement here, even in the future, thanks to juvenile decisions of the website development team.
