While surfing through the news channel,.I came to know the closure of atlas Cycle, a brand which was my friend during my school days… I still remember days when I along with my friends used to go to school, tuition, market on our cycles and it was a proud possession for all of us…

It was an emotional as well as sad moment for for me….

Yes just feeling bad for them but their name was enough but in this era of globalization and invention they are not able to survive they should have expanded or tried other products or investment when they were having good days .

My first cycle was Atlas but within few months my dad sold it to my uncle for his son as I was not able to learn cycling I was little short for it.

mine was Atlas too when i was in 4th standard and till then i used to go to 5km pvt school by foot. Around 28 year back. Purchased at 800rs from main town with my father. We gone to market by train and return by foot for some distance then some distance covered by cycle (almost 20km) i had only small cycle ( and digital watch too that my father bought at 35rs :p ) till when i came to 10th standard. That time i had to find to any higher place to balance and start it or someone had to give me support. I very remember one incident when i had to get off the cycle when a bus coming in front close to me and i could not find any place to get back to cycle. Then i had to complete rest of distance by foot by taking the cycle by hand . ( sorry for bad English i am very bad when had to express experience or feelings) .
I am from Rural area of Darbhanga Bihar

Got hit by its “danda” in private place many time.
Very rough and tough cycles.

No special treatment required by the cycle
.. that is the best part… When cycle was standing with old style stand with lock, I used to sit and do exercise by paddling and tyre is rotating and my cousin enjoy by stopping it… Such a fun it was…

No Cycle in the Market Today and beat the Rough and Tough and Strength that an Atlas Cycle hold
I felt much comfortable in pedaling Atlas keeping my back straight and no pressure on hands
and these new sport cycle we have to bend forward and then ride with so much strain on hands..

My first cycle was a Hero Devil exactly 20 years ago for Rs 1800. Never used an Atlas cycle, but it was all around. Totally dominated the market.

Last week bought a Popstar cycle for my 5 year old for Rs 3.5k. Never heard of that brand, but it feels solid and will last a few years.

End of Atlas is very sad.

My first cycle, gifted by my maternal uncle.

After 10th i moved out of town, my uncle too died meanwhile. When I used to return in vacation, I cherished its durability. One vacation I found It missing, they sold it. A bike was already arranged.

If a piece of material ever made me happy, that was my Atlas cycle. If they had not sold it, I had still kept it in memory of my uncle. First time I am stating this fact to anybody.

I still remember its every part even after 28 years. Handle bar,  tyre grip pattern,  loose bell,  shade of mudguard,  chain thickness,  chain cover.  Simple but comfortable seat.

Sorry
