Bad experience with Airtel fiber

I am having very bad experience with Airtel fiber.

First I applied for Airtel fiber connection on 6th September after the new plans were announced.

Airtel agent came to my home on 7th September and took Rs. 1000 as activation charges and 1 month rental i.e. Rs. 589 (499+ 18% gst). Total he took Rs.1589 and said the connection will be installed in 2 days time i.e. on 10th September.

Till now everything is looking fine but from now onwards the mental torture beigns. Instead of coming after 2 days for installation, Airtel took 16 days and cable came till my home on 23th September. Then after 2 days on 25th September a small box was installed in which cable was connected.

Then after 2 days on 28th September router was installed and it was connected to the small box as mentioned above and internet got started. So finally after 21 days i.e. from 7th September till 28th September the connection started. Again the Airtel agent took Rs. 1000 as installation charges but he took in cash and said receipt will be given in 1 week time.

I don’t have Airtel sim so I registered on Airtel thanks app with the number given at the time of activation. Broadband connection was already linked to my number. But one peculiar thing I noticed, instead of mentioning “fiber” under “Manage accounts” section of Airtel thanks app, “dsl” is mentioned there. Is my connection fiber or dsl?

Secondly under “My plans” section, Rs. 589 is mentioned but in brackets (excluding gst) is also mentioned. But the plan is of Rs. 499 & including gst it becomes Rs. 589. Don’t understand why this error in the app?

Thirdly installation completed on 28th September so the billing should start from 28th September to 28th October. But in Airtel thanks app it is showing from 8th September to 8th October. As mentioned in the starting of this post, connection was booked on 7th September. Also I had already paid 1month rental in advance but no mention of it is in the app.* So for interval of 10 days use i.e. from 28th September to future 8th October I will have to pay Rs. 589 two times, 1st time already paid in advance and 2nd time after 1st bill generation.*

Fourth, there is no effective way to connect to Airtel to solve these problems in the app. There are only bots, no human customer service agents to chat with.

Fifth, there is not much information in the Airtel thanks app like for example how much data I have got to use, how much data I have consumed etc.

Sixth there is no admin login page as I have been given no information about it. It means that I can’t change the wifi password, nor I can change the wifi name. Also because of this restriction I am unable to see which devices are connected to my wifi network. Basically it feels like I am using someone others wifi network of which I have no control.

This is the first time I am using broadband connection but because of Airtel the experience has become very pathetic. Also this is the first time I have took any postpaid connection. I thought I would get good service from Airtel but no. Even in this Corona time I think I have to go out to Airtel office for solving these problems.

I am really fed up with this experience. Three things which is disturbing me is 1) Wrong billing cycle, have paid in advance but not showing it as balance 2) No control over wifi network, can’t even change it’s name 3) No easy way to connect with Airtel.

Jio fiber hasn’t come to my place till now otherwise I would have taken it only.

I am so fed up that I am thinking to disconnect it immediately inspite of bearing losses. If these problems don’t get solved I will not use it.

Anyone knows Airtel higher officials email id?

You have been duped.

1. Is it through LCO or directly through Airtel?
2. You don’t need to pay rental in advance unless it is provided on prepaid basis in some cities
3. There are no activation charges. There is only installation charge which you can avoid by paying 3 months advance rental
4. Billing will be pro-rata i.e from 28th Sep (activation date). If 589 is reflecting in website it will be adjusted in next bill
5. You shouldnt have paid 1000 again that too in cash. How did you pay 1589 – cheque or Cash?
6. For modem login/pass check the back side of modem
7. Call 121 and go through Billing query option, you should be abe to talk to them.
8. Dont worry about “_dsl” it is just the user ID for connecting. Check the router. If it says VDSL2 it is not Fiber.

1) How to know this?

2) I think it’s prepaid basis.

3) I took 1 month new Rs. 499 plan. So have to pay extra Rs. 1000.

4) In billing also they are doing fraud. Check this comment of mine https://www.desidime.com/discussions/bad-experi... Basically they are giving me less validity.

5) I have paid intial Rs. 1589 through NetBanking, check this screenshot.

There is extra Rs. 1000 as wiring charges in some cities. In Airtel website it is mentioned. One neighbour of mine has also got it installed on the same day and he also has to pay Rs. 1000 in cash. On asking for receipt he said it will be given in one week but now he has * switched off* his mobile.

6) On back side of the modem, sadly no login id & password is written.

7) I don’t have Airtel sim so calling 121 option doesn’t exist for me. How to contact them from non Airtel sim?

8)Thanks for the confirmation. VDSL is not written on the modem.

Going by the title only I thought problem was with the actual connection. But anyway, Jio did the same with me, kept me hanging around for like two weeks then eventually saying two more weeks. I said yeah OK F-OFF and moved to other connection. I have found airtel’s nodal heads are very good in resolving issues, might wanna complain to them in case you want.

Another big fraud from Airtel

Broadband installation has got completed on 28th September and internet got started on that day. So technically on 30th September i.e. today, validity should be shown as 28 days left. But see what Chortel is showing. It is showing only 19 days left. Now I have first hand experience why this company is called Chortel. Guys be beware from this company.

How to contact this chor company customer care? I don’t have Airtel sim so calling 121 doesn’t exist for me.

1. I think it is through LCO. You can check with Airtel CC or call local agent to confirm this

2. In LCO cities it is only on prepaid basis I think. They are taking one month advance even for postpaid plan now it seems.

3. Installation charge is waived only if you pay 3 month advance for 799 plan or more, so 1000 for installation is fine.

4. Dont worry about billing. Your billing seems to have started from 20th Sep. First login to airtel.in site and check all the details like amt paid, outstanding due (-ve means advance paid), activation date, etc. Sometimes app may not show updated details immediately. You can also go here http://122.160.230.125:8080...d/ and check Days Left In This Billing Cycle. After the bill is generated, if the amount is not adjusted pro-rata you can talk to CC and they will adjust the amount. Since your plan seems prepaid I don’t know how it will work exactly. Most probably billing cycle will start on activation date and will be from 28th every month.

5. Looks like the charges seem to be fine since this is mostly handled by LCO. Thats why you have paid 1000 extra in cash. Initial charges keep changing every few months and for each city. Earlier it was 2000 extra for LCO cities+1000 installation. In some cases they even charged for router.

6. Usually it is admin/admin or admin/password. Tell your router model no, someone will be able to help or call local agent or CC and ask them.

7. Call 4444 4121 or 444 4121 depending on your city (7 or 8 digits) or send mail to 121 @ airtel.com

8. If it is LCO then mostly fiber

If you need more help please check IBF forum and also mention your city, router model so that other users can help.

@dimersdaily Now after 20 days internet has stopped working. On contacting them over phone, they are saying that I have got only 20 days validity and not 30 days because gst has been seperately imposed on the intial Rs.1000 which was paid as activation charges. Meaning they have deducted Rs. 180 from my 1 month recharge which is Rs. 499 new plan + 18% gst= Rs. 589 and hence I got less validity.

In all these 20 days, they were bluffing that I will get full validity from 28 September to 28 October. But now from today they are telling about gst drama. This gst thing is being said on calling local complaint number.

On calling to Airtel customer care number, they are saying to email the problem, which I will do but they themselves are not doing anything.

My question is if gst is separately imposed on the activation charges then why not take it at the same time as extra?
