BP Monitor - Query
Got 1000 CBs from Shopclues as cashback (ID sale). Yes, it’s true! They credited it in 5 minutes of making a call to their CS. Even I got blown away!
Since I’ve got only 9 more days to utilize it, I thought of buying a BP monitor for my parents instead of wasting it on impulse shopping.
Please suggest a good brand of BP monitor. The ones available in my budget from SC are… Rossmaxx, Nureca, Omron, Citizen etc. Is there a good one among these?
Or should I drop the idea of buying one from SC and go to some other site to buy a good one?
Calling all medical doctors of DD…
@cm4444 @rajdesidime @Dr Anshuman to tag a few I know.

Thanks. Which model did you buy? Price? Ease of use?
I bought HEM 7132 for Rs. 1870/- from healthkart.
My mom easily uses it without even reading the manual, so I guess its pretty easy to use!!
There might be a few newer models, which I’m not really aware of.. From what I can recall, I was looking for both looks + features. I was stuck between omron & Rossmax. And some dd guys suggested me for omron..
This seems to be a good deal: http://www.shopclues.com/omron-bp-monitor-upper...
EDIT: Notice. This product is reported for violation of intellectual property, hence it cannot be purchased. We regret any inconvenience caused.
WTF!

Thanks again for your quick response. It’s a bit expensive for my budget. I’m planning to go with HEM 8712.

Does this model gives blood pressure level reading?
Look at the comparison chart here..

@Magus go for omron Hem – 7120 model, it’s a best model amongst other models as I already have it since one year & very accurate reading it gives
Buddy the comparison chart here (http://www.omronhealthcare.in/blood-pressure-m....), shows many models don’t have bp level indicator! What does that mean? What am I missing?

Doesn’t make sense. Is not a BP Monitor supposed to read BP level in the first place?
Don’t know about brand but can vouch for ‘Bantam Labs’ seller. Ordered strips for J&J blood sugar device from them.
mercury level ones are the most accurate
mercury level ones are the most accurate

Yes. But we need someone else to check that for us. That’s not the case with Digital BP Monitors. We then have to adjust the readings accordingly. What to do?
take 7132
buy omron/citizen upper arm bp monitor. Avoid ones that are to be used on wrist.
I have used a couple of omron automatic ones but I don’t remember the model no.s.

yes you are right, I think I missed that part.
sorry, not much idea about these things as not used them much except at doctors.
so I think you are better at following what doctors and others here recommend.

@Magus Magi anymore questions u have? Feel free to ask after reading the post above mine.
@fhpitv Thanks for touching on various aspects of my query. If you read my first post carefully, you can see I’ve not stated conclusively that I’m going to buy this BP monitor only from shopclues (and at around 1000 bucks). Being a longtime member of DD (and thanks to the common sense Providence has provided me), I know where to take chances with SC.
Whenever I find something to buy from SC, I make sure the seller stands in good faith on many other portals as well. If I can’t locate him on any other store, I contact him by googling his ID and all, and place an order only if I’m completely satisfied with his response. Plus I make sure I pay the rest of the amount (apart from GC & CB) via Payumoney so that I can raise a dispute if something goes wrong even after my cautious steps.
About the price, I’ve to set the limit somewhere since I don’t have a regular income source as of now. Being middle-class, the budget is definitely a constraint for many of us, we can’t overlook it.
Still, I’ve not finalized on this issue. I could even buy a monitor from a more reliable site and use these CBs for something else.
The deal link you have given reveals so many facts… from @madmonk to @fhpitv being one of them.
Too long thread so just skimmed through posts. If you have got one take it to your mom’s doctor and ask him to check BP from his and your instrument. His will be more accurate than yours and lets you tabulate the readings. Mine is about 3%more so my monitor readings are – 3% of the displayed value
@Magus I think you now have enough information about what to do. Just let us know which model you end up buying and from where.

Sure. I will even post reviews.

+1. have known someone do the same thing to arrive at reliability scale.
found the difference in readings of various types to not be that far off from correct ones.
not sure of the percentage points, but yes the normal 3-5 point difference in systolic readings even if done consequentially; is considered okay (as per the nursing staff and doctors own words.)
they say such differences are a function of factors like body/mind activity of the patient or any slight movements.

@fhpitv Why have you removed them all? It was very informative. oops…
I barely saw these monitor things at phamily fysician so not much idea.
but i concur what others here say is more accurate and practicle.
sorry if i came across as that in PM, sorry I could not reply as 4 messages/per day limit got over.
Yes I too am aware of what a sensible Indian and a hard working earnings person feels (Middle Class.. difficult to label ourselves thus, I think even at top incomes, our values and functioning hardly changes if they are true and real)
I am well aware sir that you have much wise knowledge to not blindly lap up so called tempting offers of getitbazaar.com or shopclues.com. and yes I do know nothing of value can come in 1000rs, i meant even after subsidising it with 1000credits, still not worth to rush into a hasty purchase of any equipment or appliance of critical importance.
Wish my english was proper and nice as you @Magus Sir and
if you say @Providence sir is so good that he gives YOU common sense, then i too would want to know the dimer Providence.
thanks you

Oops… Was my comment very harsh? I thought you would know how funny I could get with my words and that’s the reason I wrote all that. Sorry if it sounded very rude.

woot ! ? no nahh. i too was being the quirky self. and the humour in my lines fell flat (or was not there at all i think)
I indeed am hamstrung in so far as messaging today goes (not in the mood to randomly comment Vu or pm me etcetera to reach 50 posts). though I just created a post little earlier only to tag you and Ramendra
else would PM you and garamAlkene that everything is still right here. (including the :-/ ‘500 words ka essay’ part that invite the roll-back)
go for omron.. I was suggested this by few dd members sometime back..
Edit: I’ve omron 7132.. I purchased it 11 months back.. Its working wonderful!
