Is tatacliq reliable?

Only if seller is reputable with some reviews/ratings. Also tata cliq is nowhere near amazon/flipkart in case of return/refund as I learned the hard way so make sure you buy a reputed brand product only with service centre in your city/nearby city.

DDR3 ram laptops don’t have m2 slot except in rare cases.

Hey guys
I have installed Crucial MX500 250GB SSD & 8GB Kingston 1600Mhz Ram
Performance improved a lot smile

But here are few things-
1. Battery backup reduced significantly confused
2. In my Acer Aspire E5- Second RAM slot is not working, so I had to replace 4GB RAM with 8GM one and could not use both RAM together.
3. Removing the back side cover of laptop was easy but while fitting, it got a little crack(still not a major issue)

I have an E5-575G (i5-7th Gen, 4GB RAM, 2GB NVIDIA 940MX), got in 2017 Diwali sales for 30k. Upgraded the RAM from 4GB to 16GB (2X8GB sticks), added an M2 NVMe 256GB SSD and moved the Windows Installation to SSD, Upgraded the Screen to Full HD, Purchased an Intel AX210 Wifi 6e card to replace the inbuilt Wifi Card all by myself looking at some Youtube videos and ordering stuff from Amazon, Ebay.com. I was even able to sell off the older stuff which I removed from the laptop for decent price, bringing down the total cost of upgrades by a lot. I think with these upgrades I’ll be able to use this laptop for the next 5-6 years easily for my usage pattern (Web Browsing, OTT Entertainment, Light Gaming).

Next upgrades on my list are : Upgrade the HDD to a SATA SSD (Waiting for SSD prices to come further down, change battery (current battery has started to die and gives a backup of about 1 hour only)

1. Are you using only ssd now in hdd drive slot or both ssd & hdd? How much is the reduction?

2. Have you checked thoroughly by watching some youtube videos of how to install laptop ram, second slot is a bit trickier to install ram & there is a possibility that you didn’t fit the ram correctly in second slot.

3. Usually it is the other way around as laptop back panel has more chances of getting damaged while removing, if it is just physical damage like some crack then no issue.

Using only SSD, did a clean windows installation on SSD
battery backup is now less than 1 hr earlier it was 1.5-2hrs

laptop fan is running continuously while earlier it was running occasionally

I have checked multiple youtube videos
and checked them individually by inserting one by one in both slots and only primary slot works
could not find the reason for non-working of second slot
but I see that second RAM slot is fixed inversely(as upper part of RAM goes down while moving it from Slot 1 to Slot 2, May be the reason but not sure)

Can you tell if- second RAM slot is fixed inversely in your model also(as upper part of RAM goes down while moving it from Slot 1 to Slot 2)

Open task manager & see which component/process is using the resources.

Usually ram slots in laptops are like stairs with one a bit above other & both have same direction of install where you place the ram at around 45 degree angle with the slot(imaging a half folded book) before you insert the ram into the slot.

Upgrade your old one (replace hdd with ssd, etc) because next few years will see an explosion of superior processors (Thanks to M1. ) and displays (https://www.xda-developers.com/samsung-mass-pro...) . These will translate to cheaper devices with much longer (2-3x) battery lives

Most probably battery backup issue is due to laptop fan, it needs cleaning etc.

This is how RAM slots are in my Acer Aspire E5-573G

Anyway for now 8GB RAM is also good enough, current usages goes max up to 5 GB only

If it is working fine then no issue, if in future you do need to get your laptop checked for anything then also get the ram slot checked.
