Firstly, there are not that many “health experts” (that would mean a degree in the same field, I would guess?) on DD.

Secondly, just because something can reduce BP, it does not become useful for a hypertensive patient. There are many types of BP lowering drugs. Anti hypertensive drugs of choice for different patients, different age groups, different co-morbidities, everything is taken into consideration before starting the drug. So, ALWAYS go and consult an actual doctor before starting any medication, with proper schedule, dosage, type and monitoring as required. A proper history, background, check up and examination is required before prescribing drugs.

Thirdly, drugs do not work like that. For example, drugs can produce different effects by acting on different receptors. A drug may predominantly be acting on one receptor and producing the corresponding effect, but it also has some or the other activity at other receptors also, which gives rise to the common known side effects of that drug. So, you might use one drug for one effect, but the other effects might wreak havoc on the body. If it needs to be excreted by a specific organ ( eg kidney) and that patient is having kidney failure, then Lord save the patient from the toxicity of the drug.

In short, please go and consult a doctor for the hypertensive patient, and only use approved methods for any illness. Drugs are drugs, not candies.

Viagra is developed for a specific purpose (for ED but people often use it to last longer). One should never take it without doctor’s prescription.
@tenga Viagra doesn’t enhance our mood. It’s just just dilates blood vessels so that more blood can reach a specific part of our body(which explains why it does almost nothing to females). This is not the case with BP patients. Viagra doesn’t work like a blood thinner which is often prescribed to BP patients.

Some BP and Stomach ulcer medicines are the root cause for the ED.
One should stop using those medicines.

Reducing the body weight and reducing the carbo intake to <10% will reduce the BP and Sugar.
The root cause of the BP is not known, usually it is combination of Sugar/Mental tension/excitement for the people who are less than 50years.

Sildenafil (Viagra) is a phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE5) inhibitor indicated for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) (WHO Group I) to improve exercise ability and delay clinical worsening; the efficacy of Sildenafil has been established predominately patients with NYHA Functional Class II-III symptoms. Sildenafil is also used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction which is actually a reaction which turns positive for ED patients.

Mode of Action

In pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), Sildenafil inhibits phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE-5) in smooth muscle of pulmonary vasculature where PDE-5 is responsible for the degradation of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (CGMP). Increased cGMP concentration results in pulmonary vasculature relaxation and may lead to vasodilation in the pulmonary bed and systemic circulation (to a lesser degree).

In ED , Sildenafil does not directly cause penile erections, but affects the response to sexual stimulation.

The physiologic mechanism of erection of the penis involves release of nitric oxide (NO) in the corpus cavernosum during sexual stimulation.

NO doesn’t suit all. You can pick up a bottle of it from chemist – requires prescription. In some, it causes the very problem it aims to rectify.

Hmm. I will give an analogy, I hope it might help. Well, Glucocorticoids like Prednisone, Prednisolone etc reduce inflammations in body. It also raise blood sugar. Can we use it to treat low blood sugar aka hypoglycemia? The answer is a resound yes but with a serious sidenote. Glucocorticoids inhibit our immune system. Immune systems don’t attack healthy body parts and hence inflammations reduce dramatically. We had an outburst of mucormycosis aka black fungal infection because of that. That’s just an example. I am pretty much sure if one overdoses with insulin then one can be saved by couple of prednisone.(Our doctor freaked out at this question. I always ask such questions to the doctors. 🐒🐒🐒) And those prednisone tablets cause cataract, glaucoma. So, clearly it is proved that even after possessing sugar level spiking properties we can overdose a person with prednisone and other similar drugs. Similarly alcohol lowers blood sugar and can cause hypoglycemia. 🙂🙂🙂 My google acquired knowledge did not know those things.
