Car recommendation needed.

I’m not very up-to-date with the recent car market so i don’t know what new cars are coming soon or which of the existing ones are getting a facelift etc.

I’m planning to get a new car(SUV) within next 12 months. Budget is 10-12 lakhs.

Also , what would be more beneficial? Making down payment in cash or with credit card? Do the dealerships charge any extra charges for using credit card?

Will be taking loan from icici bank , already got their go ahead for the loan.

I’m open to other suggestions as well like buying 2nd hand car so please suggest whatever is best.

1. You wont get SUV in budget of 10-12L...Please dont insult SUV saying Nexon, Brezza etc as SUV.

2. Paying via Credit card is more benefits (depends on dealer charging additional + benefits that you have on card). Should not be so hard to calculate on your own

3. 2nd Hand car offers excellent VFM. but it might be riskiy as the market is filled with odometer tempered cars ..so do through background check. Get the car assessed by known good mechanic

4. What is your requirements? cant suggest a car based on just budget..eg How many KM per month, usage pattern, who else is going to drive/accompany you?

Don't go to the sales guy sitting there asking for payment by credit card; go to the finance department seniors. They will send you a link

Icici is offering 7.8% on car loans i guess…how much % age they offered u?

Kia is dealing with it’s capacity, so they won’t be able to deliver in real time…my uncle booked sonet 9 months ago and yesterday he got message that it will be available with in 8-8 days.

Hyundai – i won’t recommend due to anti national activities.

Maruti – i wont prefer due to subpar build quality.

Tata – i would happily recommend you, go with punch / nexon both are mini suv or suv . Strong build and desh ka paisa desh mai blush

U can also check xuv 300 if it fits in ur budget but i guess the milege will be an issue with that.

Not an expert or any car enthusiasts.
Just a normal person just like you.

Icici is offering me 7% , as i have taken all my cars through them only. I don’t like the design of punch and nexon(too round-ish). Xuv does have a milleage issue.

recently reviewed few cars in same budget for a friend

best is mahindra xuv 300, one and only cons is boot space, if you are frequent traveller then it can be a problem. Otherwise rear seats are super spacious. Rest engine and build quality is fine.

tata nexon or altroz, before opting just enquire about services, because tata had sold too much units, and only one things people are facing is service is pathetic.

next you can consider kia sonet.

if you are thinking about sub suvs then before punch i ll suggest about nissan magnite.

Usage will be 250-300 km per month , no including any unplanned outings or vacations. Me and father will be the ones driving the car , from delhi so heavy drivers as expected.

I like the new upcoming brezza

Toyata Urban Cruiser (rebranded Brezza with better warranty & service) falls under this budget.

Not a body on frame SUV but still gets the job done. Has decent ground clearance and very stable on highways.

Go for Bolero if you’re looking for a hardcore SUV to drive on all kinds of terrains.

Are you sure about 7% from ICICI? The repo rates changed recently and it has an effect on car loan interest rates too. I was being offered 7% earlier in April but no hiked to 7.25% after multiple rounds of discussion with my RM.

I have been looking at cars in this price range, both for myself and my cousins. Here is my view

Venue – well balanced, refined engine, loaded with bells and whistles, has good AT (DCT), decent mileage but Hyundai is known to produce 3* NCAP rated cars at best

KIA Sonet – Almost similar to Venue but more wait period

XUV300 – safest (6* NCAP for adults) and largest car in the segment but compromises on boot space and gadgets on dashboard. The dashboard looks too pre-dated but a new model is up for launch in H1 2023.

Nexon – The most well balanced car with great safety rating (5* NCAP for adults). Will satisfy most criteria in price bracket but if you want the extras like ventilated seats and sun roof it will push budget to 15L or so. Terrible AT version so opt only if you want a manual transmission vehicle

Breeza – Maruti not know for safest cars but Breeza might be an exception if I am not wrong. Good service, good refined engine but more compact than Nexon and XUV 300. Once you sit in Nexon/XUV 300 and then try Breeza, you will be looking for more cabin space. Also, an updated version is on the cards.

Urban Cruiser – Better than Breeza but almost similar. A good option for AT vehicle.

Magnite – another all rounder that you can’t go wrong with. A bit more compact of the lot but packs all gadgets in the price range.

Yes 7% is the rate they’re offering me for now. Is it possible that the new xuv 300 that you said will be out in H1 2023 might have better fuel economy? Tata cars especially nexon’s round-ish outer look doesn’t feel very appealing to me , wouldn’t want to go with Nexon as my first choice.

What about Kia Seltos?

Upcoming Brezza & Venue (Turbo) fall in your budget. Mostly changes in looks & features. You can get Magnite Turbo for less. Interior is basic but offer great automatic gearbox. Good mileage & safety rating. XUV 300 is comparatively more powerful though with less mileage. Personally don’t like looks of Nexon. Brezza & Venue should be revealed within a month.

How is MG Astor base models? Nobody mentioned it.

IMO, Urban Cruiser if need to buy soon. Or wait for the new Brezza and then decide according to price/upgrades/waiting period.

Magnite/Punch if want to save money.

Based on your monthly running, Petrol models would be best.

You can use CC they usually charge around 2% for CC but you can bring it down, totally depends on your negotiation skills. Hope you got good rewarding CC.

Coming to car, with that budget proper SUV’s base model is difficult to get (new one). You would have to settle down for compact or crossover SUV’s.

If your commute is mostly is in cities and highways and very rarely on rural roads. I would suggest you to go with sedan.

Honda City base model be it 4th generation (if on tight budget) or 5th generation (if you can extend your budget). In any case stick with the base model, VFM

safety, service and mileage dont come in one pack in all 12-18l cars. Choose two of 3 .

safety , service -> mahindra

safety, mileage -> tata

service, mileage-> maruthi, hyundai, kia.

Choose one of 3.

i chose option 3 and avg safety went with maruthi xl6 though not suv. But for your requirement creta executive suits with stretch budget. Brezza is good  but new price might shoot by ~ 1.5L ex-showroom soon.

I have recently sold Innova (2014 model) due to govt's stupid rule of not allowing diesel vehicles beyond 10 years. I am planning to buy a 5 seater car, any thoughts on Toyota Hyryder?

Benevolent Benevolent

My cousin has been looking into it. Seems official embargo will be lifted tomorrow and reviews might be out tomorrow too.

But nothing can replace the comfort of an Innova. Sadly crysta models are way too expensive compared to models of the past.
