bro, it is not loot, They were selling at cost only and not able to ramp up production as money is required for expansion. Still after these prices, these prices are one of cheapest in whole world.
Just hope that quality is retained, price hike is not that much as it is not a regular consumable thing in our everyday life.

Because SII has gotten 3k crores from the government. So at this time, all this is pure profit (his own words from Jan) – he said that by selling at 150, they are still making a profit but not super profit. Judging by his family’s wealth, he is not going to perish if he can provide the vaccine at the same rate as he is giving to centre. Stop defending greedy capitalists. Last year, GOI didn’t even allow States to use the disaster fund. Then it didn’t pay GST to the states but now expects them to bear the cost of expensive vaccines all by themselves while they save the cost and build a new office building for 20k crores.

Do you know, SII is selling the same vaccine abroad at cheaper rates? Indian govt is getting it for Rs 150 while SII has been providing it to other countries for like Rs 110-130Rs.

they don’t give it cheaper from the goodness of their heart, its all part of agreements
imagine if govt had officially used covaxin instead of covishield, what could have serum done and how much loss they would have faced?

India also exported vaccine to many countries, some for free also. Why so? There mush be some reasons, right? Diplomatic or something else

Kindly shed some light.

1. 3k crores for 2 firms and that too credit not grant, waps dena padega.

2. SII also pays salaries, rent etc. If he won’t earn something then who is going to pay for those people?

3. SII has licensing agreement and has to pay 50% to aster.

4. Get your facts right, state were free to use state disaster funds, they did pay sgst but no gst compensation

5. Do you even know the cost of oxford vaccine in EU?

atleast research before blaming someone else.

When comes to money indian are worse, everytime everywhere they just want to milk money. Oximeter used to sell for 1k online now that’s selling for 3.5k. Same goes everywhere from hospital to cremation. And I see here ppl are saying the vaccine company has to make profit. But isn’t this pendamic time, ppl are dying. Atleast show some empathy, you can make money later in life if lived long enough.
