They hit my cibil, show me eligibility for good card variants, do VKYC, then physical verification, demand more docs and information. Then finally through rejection sms / email.
Every piece of information and documents provided by me are genuine and authentic. I apply as self employed person.
Should I now give up and stop new application. Tata new plus is provisionally approved for me but after so many in a row rejection i am afraid to apply.
better wait for pre approved offers from banks like icici and hdfc. do transactions. you will get it. else go for fd based card first. build cibil and apply.

Just a suggestion :- Try for card of bank you have your account in. My first credit card was Bob easy credit card. I have saving account with them. Second credit card was SBI SimplyClick applied through their sprint system. Limit was low for SBI, but got increased in January this year.
Self-employed is not the issue, something else (you got to figure it out what it is). Apart from one or two credit card issuers, no one (+ TataNeu Plus) is demanding income documents these days (CIBIL/Experian score + Existing credit relationships / limit alone being deciding factors)

Au ultra was rejected, applied c2c basis but they rejected after physical verification. They were calling multiple times to confirm my business name for self employed. Thats why thinking the culprit was :"Self Employed"
1. banks need banking relationship so open a saving a/c in bank whose CC u need
2. for Credit card there is 2 channels choose offline thru bank branch where u open saving a/c and offline, its after bank manager recommendation u will get card easily
3.CIBIL is crap thing , there are people with 800 cibil not gettin card and people with 700 getting it , step 2 will carry far greater weight then cibil
#LONG POST ALERT
Same issue with me..
I got hdfc cc as pre-approved in 2021 as i have preferred account with them..
My cibil hovers around 775 to 785...
Also got SBI cc on c2c basis last March through agent.
Also got onecard on cibil basis but with low limit..
Applied for bob, icici last year as self employed.. bob rejected after home verification.
ICICI rejected after vkyc...
Applied for apay..as there was NO DOCUMENTS REQUIRED banner in my Amazon account.. but they started asking for ITR and computation documents..
So I opened an ICICI wealth management account in December 2022..asked the lady who called me to know if I'm satisfied with their services..
I said i opened the account just to get the cc.. if that's not possible I'm going to close the account..
Within 10 days..got ICICI platinum cc on c2c basis with my HDFC cc..
Now i need axis my zone ltf and kotak platinum league Ltf..
In short.. it's better to get these cards by opening account with them or through agents.. but then getting a trusted agent is a problem...

Also, Xcite Ultra card most probably needs at least 3 lakh limit on any existing cc from any major bank like sbi/icici/axis/hdfc/kotak etc or a premium tier card like indusind legend/hdfc regalia etc.Au ultra was rejected, applied c2c basis but they rejected after physical verification. Self employed definitely works bro. I am self-employed and still consider myself a credit card newbie because almost all my cards are entry-level.
I started in Jan 2022 with my first CC SimplyCLICK. But managed to get 14 CCs in 13 months - SimplyCLICK, ICICI Amazon Pay, ICICI Platinum, HDFC Business MoneyBack, HDFC Tata Neu Plus, OneCard by South Indian Bank, RBL SaveMax, RBL Duet, BOB Select, IDFC First WOW! (ok this one is secured, got it for 0% forex) 😁, PNB RuPay Platinum, Yes Bank FinBooster, Kotak Zen Signature, and Axis MyZone. All are LTF except Tata Neu Plus. SBI SimplyCLICK was paid until this year when due to a blunder from them, I closed it and they re-activated it LTF. They're not premium or high-end but I got them mainly for the monthly discounts. Once I get from all banks, I will slowly upgrade them to premium ones.
What works - apply patiently, don't be disappointed by rejections - banks will approve if you show them ITR + good CIBIL, open savings accounts wherever pre-approved ones come easily. PM me if you want more details.
Rather than the reward points one, I prefer cashback or flat discount ones or where reward points are automatically converted into cashback without any charges or minimum point redemption rules. Reward point cards are a bit time-consuming to keep track of, and when those points expire, they sort of force us to spend more in shorter time period to redeem those points, so I avoid those or use the reward points cards mainly for the flat discounts that have around festive occasions.

So i was right about the culprit "self employed" in case of AU bank. They offered me ultra as ltf but later on rejected after physical verification.

Problem is, offline they never have LTF offers.

Can you tell more about self employed thing a bit more. Like what kind of self employed , home and business address diffrent or same.
I also have few, all of them were approved in a row. But now its only rejections... do not able to understand actual problem.

AU guys are paranoid (Have mentioned this many times before here). Even for opening savings accounts, they cancel the application if you mess up (Say you opted for Self employed but confirmed as Self employed professional to their verification) and then the serviceable pincodes are limited too, many pre-approved applications got rejected for the same reason
With that said, AU too approves self-employed applications instantly (just based on CIBIL / Existing relationships)

@sujith8786
I've upgraded my HDFC money-back ltf to millennia ltf ..
And got ICICI platinum cc which is already ltf...
Sbi simply click's fee will be waived as my spends crossed 2.5l
Got another simply click as pre-approved last October..that will also be a fee waiver card

LTF & Self employed? Offline through branch?
For hdfc.. the branch people called me for pre-approved cc.. applied through the same call itself..
I contacted hdfc priority redressal on the second month after receiving the card.. and confirmed it as ltf...
(For safe side i already spent 50k in the first month itself)
For icici as i said platinum chip is already ltf..
Even, few of my cards have been rejected in last 4 months but many were elite, I tried despite knowing that approval is doubtful. SCB Ultimate, AU, SBI cashback & Axis Magnus rejected in last 3-4 months. AU especially rejected the card immediately after mentioning self-employed though it was showing as pre-approved.
Having said that, Neu Infinity was approved recently but do note that i hold HDFC Moneyback and Classic savings account for past 10 years.

For me neu plus chargeable is provisionally approved but i need infinity ltf. They are not giving even chargeable. also have doubt if they give, it will be rejected as i do not have saving account with hdfc.

No bro. I am a blogger so office address is same as home address and because of that and self-employed combination, I have had my fair share of struggles getting credit cards. In today's age when one can work and earn from home if you are into online content creation, banks should really relax this rule about having an office address different from home address. As long as our CIBIL is good, on-time payment record is clean and ITR is decent, banks should be more liberal. Oh well, I still haven't managed to secure some banks' credit cards because of this bank policy.
Certain banks like SBI which have already given me pre-approved are still demanding business address proof again for their higher variant cards like SBI cashback (₹999 fee) yet once they offered me the paid SBI Pulse card (₹1500 fee, the one that gives free gym sessions per month) at the branch pre-approved (but I didn't take it because there was no eligible gym nearby). Banks have very weird rules and policies for self-employed people.
@stoptomove
Self-employed is not the issue, something else (you got to figure it out what it is). Apart from one or two credit card issuers, no one (+ TataNeu Plus) is demanding income documents these days (CIBIL/Experian score + Existing credit relationships / limit alone being deciding factors)
