Only if you gonna donate it or deny acceptance, you can avoid it

17000Rs Via Phone Call ?? Or Post Man Asked ??

Post Man Will Have Custom Duty Slip
Where U Can Verify And Pay.

Via Phone Call Might Be A Scam From Insiders.

Seen From Youtube 2 or 3 Years Ago.

no need to ytube. I have experrienced personally. Fedex employee calling saying that custom officer asking 10000 bribe to value and put duty "nominally". He was giving NEFT bank details of his wife to be transfered before clearence. actual duty to be paid at door on delivery of air parcel from china.
if the item bought at less tha 5000 say duty not worth it and you dont want package with that much duty. they will deliver to your door with "nominal" duty.

No waive off if officially documented, but can go in-person or by e-mail: negotiate. Can explain with evidence that item is old, used household item. So value is less.

Jack/influence (someone known) and bribe are the other two options.
