dental floss

before covid many dental floss, those threads on which wax is applied, were available and they used to work well. now every reputed company has stopped selling them here. the imported one's are hard to find and mostly fakes are available everywhere. the one's made by domestic companies does not have wax or sometimes very less or a poor quality wax and the thread quality sucks. plus they are into gimmicks like charcoal, flavors etc. afaik the water flosser, until and unless it is a very expensive one, is not at par with the threads one. some people use a high quality thread and apply medical grade wax on it for this purpose. are you using any? or is there a good alternative?

@Faug Electric Toothbrush is amazing but water flosser is not for the following reasons.

1) String floss will remove more plaque than water flosser because a solid thing brushes along side the inner walls of the teeth. Water flosser on the other hand massages the teeth walls by water under pressure. Water under gentle pressure is not as effective as a solid object, here a string. One can not maneuver water flosser as the simple thread. To achieve that level of cleaning using water one needs to use a lot of pressure.
2) Bad technique will give rise to receding gums, which are most of the time irreversible and may require gum grafting. I am a victim of this thing.
3) If water flosser is used on infected parts of gum then chances are that it will drive the plaque deeper inside the gum aggravating the gum issues.
4) The tank can be seldom cleaned. Bacteria build up is very much possible. It can be mitigated by using chlorhexidine solution but chlorhexidine can discolor tooth on prolonged usage. Tips have to be regularly changed.
5) Carrying around a water flosser can be a nuisance if travelling is part of life. Normal thread based floss is light weight, slips into the pocket and you can use it virtually anywhere. I personally carry my string floss everywhere. It is always in my pocket. Something gets stuck in teeth the thread comes handy.

Buy Oracura or any water flosser instead. Much easier to use than dental floss thread. Amazon has many brands. They work well.

I use oral b thread floss. Very bad quality. Broke my tooth. Apart from breaking itself into tiny threads too.

I've used these ones, worked fine for me for my usage... But yes, if you rub too much, threads start coming up and sometimes even break. I did not buy them myself, someone gave me a box of these, so I ended up using them for sometime, but never bought again personally. Not sure how good or bad you consider them.

But let me know if you've used/tried them and if they're good or bad. If you consider them good, maybe I'll order them & start flossing again! 😅

It is a good product. Flosses the teeth and can be used as a tooth pick. But the string has a limited range of motion. https://www.amazon.in/Oral-Essential-Waxed-Mint...
This is a good one.
You can check for interdental brushes as well if your teeth gap is not extremely tight.

I use the one from Colgate. You should check with Reliance Smart Bazaar, I usually buy it from there or from D-Mart.

I use waxed as well as water flosser. Both are good.
water flosser is easy for me. waxed floss requires good technique.
Isse bhi kuch nahi hua toh dentist se occasionally 6 months me ekbaar cleaning kar sakte hai.
Local dentist 500 rs me kar dega.

On some doctor's recommendation, my aunt bought it (water spray machines) from some company or business.
Seems she got overcharge also and now uncle and aunt do not even use it, as they say it is too cumbersome to maintain. (I assume they meant the 'attachments).

Despite purchasing two units, they say they paid some 4500-4600₹ rupees (for two units).
I do not know the brand though.

Unless malocclusions like tilted, overlapping teeth.. normal cotton thread or floss wire are sufficient I guess, for those without other oral health conditions or heart conditions.
