Does a bank ask for another bank's credit card number while issuing a new credit card?

I got a call from HDFC (their third party dealer) telling me there is an ongoing offer of getting a lifetime free HDFC credit card. I thought “OK, why not?” First, can someone tell me if this is legit? Second, I already have one Yes bank credit card. He said he would have to know my Yes bank’s credit card number to issue one of a higher limit.
I want to know if this is fine. Does this usually happen when getting a new card?

Well, there is something called Card to Card credit card issuance and for that they only ask for your previous credit card number not CVV. So your card is secure anyway.
never give it a person on phone even if real bank they will never ask full card number on phone your details has been leaked dont trust
I’ll ask them if just a statement would work.
So, is it fine if I give on WhatsApp or their email?
Yeah, but I was wondering if they could brute-force the CVV…lol It’s only 3 digits.
For that they need to initiate a transaction and card will be blocked after 3 wrong attempt and card holder will get notifications too after every wrong step. Even after that card holder is sleeping then no can save him/her.
dont give them full number anywhere it a scam bank do not ask such details
tell them you filling complain for fraud and than see how they react
Agreed!
I applied for sbi simply click on card to card basis . They took my kotak credit card statement and full card number. That was 2 months ago. Still no problem
Were they third-party agency people or bank employees? Do you send your details on their official emails or via any other media?
Banks do take card embossing while apply for a new card on C2C basis
which includes whole card number, along with statement, it is a standard practice
I got call from 3rd party HDFC credit card provider. For Card-to-card, They asked send me Last Credit Card statement, Aadhar copy, pan copy and photo thru email (on Gmail id). They don’t require my sign on form. They will manage it.
Is it scam?
Give them card statement i stead and stick on it
No, they should not ask for number, moreover how will they ascertain your credit limit with cc number, they should have asked for cc statement. May be a fraud.
