Had opened HDFC ppf 5yrs ago, just deposited 500 on first week of April each year, it can be opened online also through netbanking, dunno about transfer, branch is Anna Nagar...
To me, I wasn't that much financially educated then, hence kept it an option, i rarely invested, shall pay 500 each year just to avoid penalty... Better options exist, for 15yra horizon, I have found quant small cap / infrastructure fund direct plan... Who needs ppf now...?

Try ₹500. For me ₹100 fails everytime. But ₹500 is successful.

You can ask your Canara branch to link your SB account with PPF. Then you can make instant payment via ai1 application.
