Does HDFC or ICICI offer a Virtual Debit Card?

Hi,

I rely completely on credit cards for all my purchases and don't use the debit card at all, but still need it for the UPI registration. That's where the virtual card is a saviour, but not all banks offer it for their regular savings accounts. Has anyone ever seen or applied for a virtual card for HDFC or ICICI Bank? Please exclude the Instant/Online/ASAP bank accounts from consideration.

Thank you.

For UPI registration, you can use Aadhar I guess. I read somewhere that a debit card is not required now for UPI registration

Yes they have been saying that since forever now, but still all the banks have not implemented it properly. SBI allows you to use Aadhar, but only when you have a valid debit card, Axis wasn't allowing it since last month but they offered me a free debit card so that was settled anyways.

Nowadays, debit cards are not compulsory for upi registration. Aadhar based authentication is also there for users with account with no debit card. Personally did for central bank of India, works fine.

Yes, it depends on the bank and the UPI app too. Till last month, I had been using my Axis Bank account without any debit card since 4-5 years and it didn't allow me to register on any UPI app. I surrendered my SBI debit card too last month and before applying for the virtual debit card, gave a shot if SBI gives the option of Aadhar Authentication, but naah.
But I just checked now, IndusInd bank is giving that option on Paytm, but not on GPay (which is anyways slower to adapt new features anyway). Hopefully this gets normalized soon.

In ICICI u can see debit card details thru netbanking.
but only virtual dc is not there, as they put 16 boxes grid at the back side of dc which have unique numbers. These numbers are asked at various times as 3rd factor of authentication.
