guys it pretty simple.
step1) go to http://dottech.org/21534/how-to-install-adb-and… and see hot to install adb and fast boot
step2) go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=…
and then do step1 and 2 as listed there, step 3 is simplified in my step 1 where you will install thee adb and fastboot
now download prestoroot.img and cwm-5.0.2.7-presto.img and save them to c":\Android as created in step1 of mine.
now open cmd and change the directory to c:\Android
now do this
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
When the bootloader screen shows up on your phone then wait a few seconds to make sure your phone is recognized by the computer then run the following command
Code:
fastboot boot prestoroot.img
After phone reboots itself, shut the phone down and turn it back on again.
Then run the following command
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
When the bootloader screen shows up again then type the following commands
Code:
fastboot flash recovery cwm-5.0.2.7-presto.img
fastboot reboot
8-When the phone boots up this time, download the superuser app from Google Play
if the links above dont work for download please use these:
links to download cwm
http://tau.shadowchild.nl/files/cwm-5.0.2.7-pre…
this is zip file so please unzip it to c:\Android whihc will be a .img file
link to downlaod prestoroot

I was not able to post in dost and dimes, it was giving me an error and it is different from that process, in this you don’t have to download big files and full android sdk to start, only relevant part is needed and can be downloaded to root the phone

guys when you ask something, please reply back even if you are able to solve it yourself instead of keeping somebody waiting for you
Guys, I was having issues while rooting on Windows. drivers issue is the most common issue.
let me tell u its very easy on Linux/Ubuntu/Mint what ever u r comfortable with.
just 3 to 4 steps and u r done.
PM if anyone interested in knowing the steps and I will help you out.

if you are on windows xp, then you will face issue with drivers and will see a screen waiting for device while rooting in cdm, for it you just have to go to device manager, search for the android device and then right click and click update driver, and you are done, no problem in windows 7 as it is done automatically
I followed the list here from ATT Galaxy S2 and removed tons of unnecessary apps. Some of them not in this list don’t touch them. Just remove whatever you see the same in the list.
https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/pub…
One NOTE:
In TB, Hit uninstall choose yes then STOP right there and look at the ******.apk then compare to the list. This will show you exact name of the apps.
Please give karma if you find this useful.
Hi,
Based on the tips in the xda thread, I installed the Battery Calibration software and competed the calibration on 100% charge, I was doing the step of running down the battery to complete discharge, when it reached under 5% I connected it to the charger, but its not charging, and now it has turned off.
I tried connecting to my pc, and also to a portable charger, but it is not charging.
any tips to come out of this situation?

take out the battery and put it back and see
@Vicks:
Sorry buddy, xda was the only thread I moved back to before I had to step out for a meeting in office, so did not notice replies here:
Update: Charging now
So, it seems a bit slow to respond to the charge, it did not start charging at under 5%, eventually switched off and showed a charging symbol only after about 15 minutes, I have not connected it to my portable battery which has an output of 1.0A.
The phone did show upgrading android message when it booted.
Here is what I had done before this happened.
Upgraded to ICS
Rooted using attn1’s method.
Run Battery Calibration.
I do not currently have the CWM installed, any alternatives to taking backups without CWM or Pantech stock PC software.

Somehow, I did face issues in Win7 too, and had to use the update driver method before my phone could be recognised in the fastboot mode.

I don’t know of any other method but a new cwm has come up which supports touch and can backup and restore from phone internal memory
Multiple threads for same thing, already posted in Dosti pakki kharcha apna apna aka dost and dime section.
