Eid al-Fitr marks the end of month long gruelling Ramadan fast and it is celebrated on the 1st day of Shawwal. It’s said that during Ramadan period Qur’an was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad. And observing folks break their fast after looking at the new moon. This is also known as Lesser Eid/Sugar Feast etc. Eid al-Adha is considered as the Greater Eid.
