Embarrassing situation: Jio Autopay Failed

ENCOUNTER_SH...

I have setup a mandate for auto-recharge in My Jio app which will automatically debit amount 3 or 5 days (don't remember exactly) before plan expiry which had failed (don't know why). If this fails, system will try once again 1 day before plan expiry, but this didn't happen at all. Though I was receiving plan expiry messages, I ignored them and was waiting for the auto-debit to happen. Meanwhile plan got expired and I hadn't noticed it. Went to shop to buy some things and tried to scan and pay and it wasn't detecting. Then I realized that plan got expired. Earlier even if there is no active plan, users were able to open jio app/website and recharge, but that day even jio website didn't open. Luckily, I've some cash in hand, if not it would've been so embarrassing. I came home and recharged manually. 2 or 3 (these 2-3 days are weekend+some public holiday) days later, then auto debit was done, and same plan is in queue now. 😬 Ideally auto-debit mandates should work on all days, but don't know what happened in my case. Any dimers faced such situation??

We have 3 Jio numbers in our home, each number have different dates and managing them was difficult. So I've chosen auto thing.

I don't recharge my numbers for months together and maybe faced this issue twice over the years.  I activate UPI in multiple apps so if one app suddenly demands re-verification I can use some other app. Queuing recharges is best in terms of reliability.

I have setup mandate using bank INB credentials not UPI. Irrespective of type of payment like CC, UPI, INB etc, I believe that they shouldn't fail and work on all 365 days.

Happened to me too last year during Gandhi Jayanti which was Monday. My plan expired on Sunday but auto debit didn't work from the previous three days. I had to recharge manually and removed auto debit immediately to stop double recharge if auto debit somehow started working. Since then I just queue recharges. No hassle & peace of mind

for Queuing you dont need to wait for the plan to end so its actually better then auto debit
set a date recharge all on that date while having a already qued pack so that you can stack them in advance

For 3 numbers with Jio, switching to postpaid family plan may be a better option.

Postpaid is costly affair compared to Prepaid is what I felt. And there are no daily limits in Postpaid and in our house it will complete within 10-15 days instead of 30 days. So better stick to prepaid only. 5G availability is poor in my area FYI
